Here is the detailed translation of his interview in Eenadu (leading newspaper in Andhra Pradesh).
(all the nice stuff was translated by bhale ji but this version is for the hardcore fans of hemu.... like me... who want to know anything remotely concerned with Hemu)
the article starts with the intro:
"Premante inthe" goes a new voice. This is an original telugu voice. "enduko eto" and "munde mudipadi" sung by the same voice has won much appreciation in telugu film industry. This new voice belongs to Vedaala Hemachandra. The guy, still in his teens, was born and brought up in Hyderabad.
The following is "Eenadu Cinema's" chat with Hemachandra who is currently singing in Telugu and Hindi:
How did you get your first singing chance?
I have met MDs Keeravani (Kreem in Bollywood) and Koti before to give me a chance but they have asked me to practice until my voice changes /matures. Eventually Koti gave me an offer to sing in "Premante In the" movie. Later gave me two more songs in the same movie. I am happy that "Premante inthe telusa mari" has been well appreciated.
You gained a lot of recognition from "Saregamapa" program. What is your inspiration for this competition?
I did not expect to be part of this program initially. I went to Delhi along with my elder sister to participate in a competition where Saregama's Anuj Kapoor was also present. He encouraged us to take part in Saregamapa. I came out as the second runner up.
What did you gain from this program?
The show introduced me to bollywood and got a chance to sing for Alag.
How did you get interested in singing?
I inherited music from my mom Sasikala Swami. She is a light music lecturer in Telugu University. She won Nandi award for a TV serial last year. She was my first teacher . My elder sister also sings well. My father practices law.
Are you looking for new opportunities in singing?
Yes and I am also pursuing my BSc in Animation and Multimedia in Mumbai. I hope to get more offers there. I want to earn a good name as a singer.
How does learning Classical Music help a singer?
It is definitely helpful. By knowing the basics, you will be more confident and will sing well.
You are from Hyderabad. How well do you speak Hindi?
To be honest, I am not fluent in Hindi. I rarely watch hindi movies and do not have many friends who speak Hindi. I pay more attention to my diction when I sing in hindi.
Most of the singers dance while on stage including the singers in saregama. Do you think it is necessary?
Absolutely. In a recording theater nobody cares. If you are on a stage it is your responsibility to entertain the audience. So there is nothing wrong in performing while singing.
What offers do you currently have?
Ushakiran movies has given me an offer. There are couple of offers in Hindi movies too.
Do you play any instruments?
Learning sitar as a hobby. Been practicing for the last two years.
