Lovers' tiff
'Friends' Himani and Vinit fight in private… and make up on stage

The Himani-Vinit 'friendship' which first started during the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge contest, now threatens to become a globally known phenomenon.
The two had a fight before their concert called Celebrating India Hong Kong 2006, at the Lyrics Theatre, the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts last Saturday, where they were accompanying Sunidhi Chauhan for her concert. After the fight, the duo refused to sing duets together on stage. The indulgent organisers agreed to let them sing solo numbers. However, the audience kept clamouring for duets.
"We fight all the time. Sometimes we don't talk to one another for days, even weeks," says Himani. "This time our fight started in Mumbai and continued all the way up to Hong Kong. I was sure that I wouldn't sing with Vinit, so I had deliberately worn high heels. Whenever I sing with Vinit on stage, I take off my high heels in order to match his height.
But when the audience kept insisting on us singing together, we reluctantly agreed to sing one duet 'Just chill'."
However, in true filmi style, Himani kicked off her high heels in the middle of their duet, just to let the audience know they were no longer at war. "The audience roared in delight at that," recalls Himani. "It was almost as though they were acknowledging and celebrating our friendship."
Says Sa Re Ga Ma Pa's producer-director Gajendra Singh, "The Himani-Vinit jodi has become a rage among Indians all over the world."
Incidentally, Himani and Vinit have just rendered a song together for Subhash Ghai's Good Boy Bad Boy.
"That's Himesh Reshammiyaji's love for Vinit, which extends to me too. He's Vinit's mentor, but he treats me like his child too," says Himani.
