I respect your views on how u would like your relationship to be. Thanks for respecting that. But let me tell u, if a girl agrees to live with the man and HIS FAMILY, she will be dominated eventually and she will hv to make compromises for her relationship to go on. Yes, u are right about that, however I was in the similar situation where I had to live with my mother in law, but Karim is understanding and explained to his mother that living together will not work out. My mother in law to this day does not appreciate it, but I am lucky to have a man who stood by me and voiced the concern. She has a choice, either to live with the man and hsi Family or to leave him and go ahead with life. If I were given a choice to live with Karim or leave, I think i would give it a shot to live with my in laws and if it did not work out, i would have left. I know that means divorce and it would be painful, but I am too strong of a woman to live in pain and abuse. And in India, in particular, if a woman moves on without her man, that is seeks divorce, she is not respected in the society anymore and is labelled as 'available'. I understand and it's extremely sad. My mother is divorced, so I understand what you mean. My mother Being a Muslim woman and in back home in a small town being divorced is a big deal, but I guess I have taken my mother's personality that I don't give a damn what soceity thinks. So the better choice is to adjust and make compromises...I guess for some women that's the option they would settle for. I thank my God that I am not one of them, whose husband dominates her and also the in-laws.. I live in a very nice family, where each one's views are respected and accepted and everyone has his/her independence. That is great ...I am very happy for you (knock on the wood) .......But, I have so many of my friends, who are making adjustments and living with their spouses, even if they dont have so much respect and love left for their husbands, because they know that there is no life after marriage too for them.. isnt it a pity....It's very sad. My heart goes to women like that . ... I hope the society in India also becomes maturer and big-hearted to accept female divorcees as NORMAL females..The older generation will not change towards divorce issues and the newer generation is only learning what their ancestors believed. I am Muslim (ismaili) follower of Agakhan and in my particular muslim religion it is taught that if a parent has only little money to educate one child, make sure that parent educates a daughter first. I guess in indian society son is superior to daughters and always daughters have to compromise, but my religion teaches me otherwise.....thanks for giving me opportunity to answer these questions and also to answer your questions on Member of the week thread....thanks Amzy....Love Zahida
