Past Sa Re Winner???

I am living in Canada and am an avid fan of Sa Re ..... Does anyone have any update on Gaurav Bhangia(sp.?) who won Sa Re.... a while ago??? He never returned nor has Shaan ever mentioned him. It is a shame as here in North American, past American Idol winners are mentioned and updates posted.

Music is his passion




Gaurav Bhangia from New Delhi is all set to carve a niche for himself in the world of Bollywood playback singing. Music, he says, is his passion and that is the only reason that he is in Mumbai today. The youngster, you may recall, won many episodes in the popular Sa Re Ga Ma Pa much to the chagrin of other participants. And so, he is now looking forward to some good offers from producers and directors to sing in Hindi films.

Bhangia started singing very early in life. As a child of 10, he was already singing in a Delhi-based group called Sakha. He learnt Hindustani Classical music inGandharvaSchoolinNew Delhi. He later trained under PanditInderNarayan Sharma. As a student Bhangia won many medals and awards.

His big break came in 996 when he was part of Sa Re Ga Ma but lost in the first round. Determined to prove himself, he worked harder and in 1999, reached reached the finals and was a runner-up. In 2001, he became a finalist in the same program. He then honed his light music skills under Mohinderjit Singh and AnanthVaidyanathan. This year, Bhangia won all the ten episodes of Sa Re Ga MaPa.

He says that his parents were responsible for his success and he is determined to prove himself in the field of film playback singing as well. He says that Jatin-Lalit have given him valuable advice and help on his Bollywood career. He will soon be cutting his first album with Zee which is part of the contract of being the winner in Sa Re Ga MaPa.

This young talent is still struggling to find a foothold in the tough world of Hindi films. For his entire struggle, however, he has not lost one bit of his optimism. He is confident that he will make it big in Bollywood. With a voice like his, it should not be a difficult task. Here's wishing him luck and fame.
