SRGMPC - The other name for deceit? Yes . How, see:
Now, it is a jubilation time for the music fans (at least the slightly talented triumphed over the untalented). It seems all the musical people watching SRGMC (if India forums can be taken as a genuine sample) are content with the outcome of the show – the triumph of 'sargam' the win of 'surs' and of course 'sangeet' – however small it may.
What a master 'reality-show' it had been. Everyone just seems to be distracted by the outcome – a sham – the deceit. No one would agree that they didn't know much about music when they used to see the programme before the challenge. It remained a truth all through its progress down the months of SRGMPC. Except for a few put their stake on the 'dheela-dhala' (I am afraid, except for his hairstyle and wardrobe nothing has changed much) Debo. He was the underdog from the very beginning despite everything. He was underdog despite his talent. He was underdog despite his training. He was underdog despite his humility. He was underdog despite his manners. He was underdog despite his hardwork. He was underdog despite his electrifying improvement…he was underdog for every conceivable reason. He was underdog because of things he lacked and for things he possessed. In fact I too thought (and to an extent still think) he is made for certain genre of music. The difference between than and now is the range of the genre has expanded. And, it has expanded enormously, enormously from the day he got the younger brother of RDX - our IDX (the great Ismail Darbar). In one of my earlier posts I wrote: ID can make a stone sing if he has made Debo sing. I was appalled. Similarly were many who, like me, changed their views regarding the underdog when he sang Jhumru. It wasn't anything like he made us forgot our loving Kishoreda by that. It was that we were longing for some such thing for a long time. That too from a underdog? It was, as they say, Mind-Blowing. It equaled Nihira's Hare-Rama, Hare-Krishna.
Then onwards he saw a road no smooth – unsmoothened (roughened) by the likes of AS, HR, fellow singers and his own less presentable demeanor. I don't know, despite lack of other singing talents at that time why the lad had to pass an ordeal every time he stepped on the stage?? This haunts me still. Why he had to accept 4s and 5s everytime vis--vis others' 9s and 10s even though they didn't stand anywhere near??? Why AS couldn't see anything beyond Himani? Why HR couldn't see anyone beyond his topi? Why, while others were pronounced winners for every crooning and creaking of theirs, he had to face those casual and crass remarks from no other than the people, donning the pious cloak of mentors. WHY? It still haunts me. Anyway he has won. Maybe, foreseeing the future of SRGMP, the remote controllers have decided to make him a winner. But, seriously how many of the 'classic-viewers' thought (even when the final two left) that there even a competition existed in between – singing-wise? The proof of this can be seen from the face of HR himself. It can be seen when he started saying: anyway all the top 10 are winners. It can be seen, when he implored people: please vote vinit, he is already the 'UNDERDOG'. He accepted his defeat long before. His upbringing was pushing him in front of the 'hungry lion' named ID. On the one place where there was no competition between debo and vinit, same holds true with HR and ID. There simply has and will not be a competition between the two ever. Given his compositions so far and the challenge he presented in the final to compose for vinit – both collapse before what ID has on his part. It became imperative for the remote-controls to make it or show it a close finish. To argue that there actually WAS a competition.
Now, let me come to the biggest deceit, the mother of all deceits that the producer, director and SRGMP team carried away so smoothly – it was just like: Qatl karte hain aur haath mein talwaar bhi nahin.
You would ask who is being 'Qatl-ed' here? Well, all of us.
How, it is the psychology of the programme exploiting the week psychology of the watching people – the audience. And the week psychology is human (more so of the generationX) nature to forget. To forget what has been meted out to him. What wronged him. And take that wrong, good by having it dressed with further good. Do you remember the emotionally filled shortlisting, the weeping aspirants, leaving the studios broken heart? Well, I do remember. Do you remember the seriousness of the matter while shortlisting and further down the lane eliminating by experts on the grounds of seriousness of the programme –the true musical programme? Instead of continuing with its legacy of a serious and genuine musical talent hunt, why in the first place they make it a 'janta ki choice/ voice'? Why they resort to voting by every tom-dick-harry, keeping at stake the reputation of their programme? Janta-Janardhan? Of course it is , then why did they suck blood (hard-earned money) of the same 'janta' by SMS thing? If they were really providing platform to the real talents then why to do at that same 'janta's' expense? You and I paid that one crore and a lot more crores to the SRGMP from which they paid a miserly sum to our debo – enough to make good his 'garibi' though. Everything is fine uptil now, but why to give an impression that it wasn't a competition at all, except for the contract and money business?. Where the hell did the talent thing go? Down the drain? When you have vinit with contracts, hema there, himani and Sharib performing on the final, where is the competition? Ok they were compassionate with all the loosers as well, who is going to sympathise with us? Who? After all the greatest loss is of ours na? We have lost everything. Money (as per their standards) and faith (as per our standards). Now, I am a confused lot. I don't know which was my greatest loss. Whether it was the cabel connection, the zee tv, the SRGMP, my love for music, my watching with interest, my voting, my enjoying or my belief in …………Damn all!! A total waste......I have gone mad....🤢
Friends of the forum, if you have any answers to my confusions, I am here waiting for them as a lot drop before my last breath. In any case your similar and also dissimilar confusions are not going to worsen mine. And hence are welcome.😊
