Agnipariksha Final 3- 26/1/06
The episode started with Himani's journey in SGMP…..her performances…her elimination.
All the three contestant came in and sang Bharat humko from Roja……all of them looking strange in the white kurta pyjama with the flag look….good song so sounded nice. Shaan joined them in the end. Today is the Republic day special.
Shaan explained that there would be no elimination today…recap of the drama, which happened last week. Shaan said that all the votes received last week and this week will be counted together and there will be elimination next Thursday.
Then an av on the three final contestants visiting the army and the naval forces….and the special guest is somebody who is connected with the Army…….Priyanka chopra…both her parents were with AMC. She is looking nice…..the studio audience has got lot of people from forces.
There will be two rounds of singing today….
The first round begins with Hemachandra's performance…the desh bhakti song has been selected by someone from the army and the song is Dil diya hai from Karma….forgets lyrics….picks up but forgets the lyrics again….sings in very low pitch..i think he should have sung it in higher….also somehow the song sounded sad not full of the josh which a patriotic song should have. Overall, I am not impressed with this performance, he is capable of singing this song much better and falters. I somehow feel that last week's drama has taken a toll on him…he does not look or sound the confidant and chirpy he usually does.
The mentometer is 5 from each of the opponent mentors. AS says that hema is honest…if he wanted he could have stopped and started again but he decided to continue. He says that though he was good, he did make mistakes and AS does not want to give excuses but hema is an original singer. Priyanka says that his mistakes are maaf because he san a difficult song and as said by his mentor…he has got an original voice.
The next performer is Debojit and the song requested by the army personnel is Aye mere pyare….i think debojit got a wonderful song….half battle won with the choice. He sings with lot of feel, good thahraav….very good performance from him after a very long time.
The mentors give him 8 (AS) and 9 (HR). ID Says that aye mere pyare debojit, tujhpe dil qurbaan…..just keep singing welll like this. Priyanka says that you have sung it from heart…..you have potrayed the sadness of the song very well.
The last performer in this round is Vinit and the song selected by the army man for him is Kar chale hum fida…..good song. And he sings it almost perfectly with lot of emotions…though he also does not seem to be in his elements…his singing does not get affected. Very good performance…best till now.
The mentometer also shows the same, he gets 10 (AS) and 9 (HR). HR gets into publicity mode again (when he will let vinit be!). He comes up on the stage to vinit and says that vinit has to promise one thing to him today…he will become star one day but he has to keep this promise. Vinit obviously agrees….HR says he should always keep this feeling of patriotism and whenever your country needs you- you will be there……Tells the audience that he believes in vinit and if they vote for him…they will be making an investment as he has made this promise ( oh god…how cheap can he get…just to get votes!). Priyanka says that apne is gaane ko zinda kar diya…you have put your soul in this song. Very good.
The first round was based on requests from Army…second round is requests from Navy.
Hemachandra is again the first one…and this time the request is Vande mataram….Rahman's version. And this time, the beginning is very good….his control on the high notes is commendable…also puts in his own harkats which are good…even very good on lower notes. Does falter in one place or so, but sings this time with lot of emotion, power….good performance but somehow I feel that he could have done better than this as well.
The mentors give him 8 each. AS comes to the centrestage this time and says that jisne is gaane ko chuna..use salaam, rahman ko salaam for a wonderful song..and third salaam to Hema who has sung it beautifully. The way he has sung this song….his earlier galti are maaf. Priyanka also says that it is such a difficult song with so many variation in each line….i was looking if you falter but you did not even falter once…..very good and as your mentor said…all galti maaf.
The next performer is Debojit and the song chosen for him is Hindustani …from Dus. Now it is debu's turn to forget lyrics….stops for a part and then picks up again…. But he misses the sur and beat also in between…voice cracks ……so after a very good first performance…he lets us down by singing this one……ends it well though.
The mentors will obviously not let this go and he gets 4 (AS) and 6 (HR). ID says that according to him, he gets 9. He sang it well, people do make few mistakes…it is fine (I wonder what happened to this when he was giving marks to Hema). Priyanka says that it was a very beat oriented song and he did well.
The last performance for the evening is by Vinit and the song requested for him is Zindagi maut na..from Sarfarosh….very good selection…this kind of song will suit it. He sings well…obviously no match to the original sonu but very well done…sung with lot of feeling…good on higher notes as usual.
The mentometer for him reads 9 from both mentors. HR says that he was very good and also thanks the mentors for the marks. He has sung the song with so much finesse…..and with the promise he has made for the country…investing in vinit is like investing in the country (oh no!)….people should vote for him. Priyanka says that you should have seen your mentor jumping with excitement when you were singing, she says that he was good.
OK, now the drama again…..people in the audience saying that who do they think was better…..more people in favour of Vinit. One think I noticed was after the first round of performance, everybody except hema was given a chance to give his voting code…..wonder what happened or is this a ploy to get Hema out.
Priyanka is also asked her choice – Shaan says that you have an old connection with the show as her father had performed here….clipping of Priyanka's father's performance in Sa re ga ma . She says that she was impressed with all of them and it is very difficult for her to give this decision now…she will tell it to Shaan and he can reveal it later (drama again!)…she says that may the best man win! She asks the audience to not get affected by her vote because she has heard them only today…and they have been hearing them for so long…and the voting should be based on the consistent performance.
Shaan asks her to sing and she says that she cannot sing in front of these trained singers….but she will get someone to sing…girls..girl power! Calls Nihira and Himani…tells them that she became a fan of himani when she heard her sing Jiya dhadak and became a fan of nihira when she heard her Saathi re….she says that I hope you both will sing for me one day. Both of them together sing Aye mere watan ke logon…..good singing…though I think that himani should sing with a little more open voice. Nihira is as usual very good….
Tomorrow we will have Subhash the Ghai and Ayesha takia as special guests and the contestant will have to sing songs given by opposite mentors.
