Well it's a really good dance song but it's not like all the other item songs which have one item girl who's in the film making a special appearance for just that song. But so what if it doesn't fit the usual mould? You can still count it as an item song!

Exactly!
SKJ is an item song but Katrina herself is performing in it.
Okay it's official. Tumse Milke is an item song

Woohoo! Two awesome Anu Malik item songs: Mehboob Mere and Tumse Milke 😆

I dunno about strict definitions, but those two are definitely better than Sheila Ki Jawani, which is more of a joke song.

In fact, you just reminded me of another comment I wanted to make. These days, item songs are all about grabbing eyeballs with anything possible. So we have funny lyrics like in Munni Badnaam, Sheila Ki Jawani and Dard-e-Disco.

I prefer the other item songs which have some lyrical value. I've already mentioned Mehboob Mere, Maahi Ve and Kajra Re. But consider Chhaiya Chhaiya - its such a wonderful song that I feel it's cheapened by the label of 'item song'. But after all, it was Malaika's first item songs. Just listen to the word by Gulzar saab:

Yaar misaal-e-os chale

Paaon ke tale phirdaus chale

Kabhi daal-daal, kabhi paat-paat

Main hawa pe dhoondu uske nishaan

Wah wah wah!

Compare that to:

Silly silly silly silly boys

Mujhe follow follow karte hain

Jab unki taraf dekhun

Baatein hollow hollow karte hain (I think those are the lyrics)

Well that's the thing. SKJ does have lots going for it. Sunidhi has sung beautifully and the music is catchy. But imo Mehboob Mere is more refined. 😊

Okay. Lots of supposed classics don't appeal to me. It's personal choice after all. For example, I don't like Kal Ho Na Ho. In fact I didn't think much of that whole album but Shankar Ehsaan Loy got a National Award for it! 😲
