As Khurram started off khwaja mere khwaja with Fareed, any one can listen his scale was diff from what was provided by keyboarder, this carried on till they changed over to piya haji ali (raag mand?).

Fareed's command over different octave was far superior to Khurram, such competition should be endouraged but on classical songs only.

Technically it may be correct but the feel that is created when Khwaja Meren Khwaja and Piya Hazi Ali are sung was not there at all.
