max the organisers of SRGMP can do is edit ,raise or lower the pitch of the track. However, when it comes to sing alongwith that lively effect and that extra freshness to the stage and the program which pre-recorded track cannot give.

Singing without music would be like body without soul, Orchestra is permitted everywhere in singin competitions.
I believe Shantanuda's band was awesone and they really enlivened the atmosphere. I miss them alot.......

TO be truthful Pancham was first to experiment with sound & voice, many of his songs like dum maro dum, o saathi chal(Seeta aur Geeta), Izzazat(katra katra), have special effects where Asha's voice appears even before it has diappeared.
I've said earlier that his own father S D Burman was unhappy with Pancham's twist with Bass guitar, keyboards & sound effect which he used freely in Hare Rama Hare Krishna.
But Bappi Lahiri was the first person to temper with the voice using machines, his hit songs of movie Disco Dancer have sounds & voices significantly influenced.

Hey Guys, in the world SRGMP contest held in Dubai, there was one round where the singers had to sing with no back-up music. It was phenomenal. It separated the wheat from the chaff [ Rajiv from the others.] Also, there was a judges choice round, which was great. SRGMP should definitely bring those back for all the next rounds. This will solve the controversy of fixed tracks, favoring one contestant over the other, etc. etc.

In previous years SRGP used to have many distinguinshed judges in final round, I would like to go for that

which rules are you talking of, there was never any set of rules to start with, this is for first time that SRGMP is not using orchestra. Performance has taken over singing.Be prepared for a remix round some where... 😆 😆
