Kolkata is not a state. West Bengal is, which has 2nd least number of mobiles in country.( acc to 2003)
Going by your mail, Hariharan, KK should have been flop. but we listen to them.
A R Rehman is also South Indian but we all adore him.

bec'ose most of the people dont know hariharan and kk are from south. Not the southies - but most of the northies came to know hariharan and kk are southies after they hit the chart buster.that was not in the case of yesudas/spb.so they were not liked by the northies even they have bagged the most nos.of national award in singing.

this is in the case of hemachandra also,all of us know he's from south and will judge according to that
