Hard to do a straight-up comparative analysis. For one thing, on an average, Sensex has fewer trading days compared to Dow Jones. Last year, I think BSE's average daily returns are positive while for Dow, it is negative. India's growth rate is higher than that of US but at the same time someone has to do an inflation-adjusted comparative analysis. May be a pro can do that; I am an amateur.

Isnt the stock market unpredictable ? I feel that investing in realty is safer & gives more return but not as quick

Actually nothing to invest so nothing to lose 😃

yeah I guess... but then how do ppl even make money on the market if the daily returns are negative? :S

well its at least easier to understand than the stock mkt -all figuresOriginally posted by: Mister.K.
real estate market is primarily responsible for dragging whole economies to their knees in the last couple of years. it's out of reach for the common man. prices have to correct at least 50% - 60% for anybody to think of "investing" in real estate for the long run. if you want to "flit" in and out of real estate that's another thing; highly risky but you might pull it off if you are lucky.

the newly devp localities are a good bet though, easy loans, good appreciation, high demand 😊Originally posted by: Mister.K
not really. i mean, if you want to do it blindly then yes. but deciding on the location, bank loans and terms, paper work involved, maintenance all add up.
