IF SRGMP singing contest has been a memorable journey for all those who have been associated with it. Whether it is the mentors, the contestants, the judges, the audiences, the coordinators or the IF SRGMP team as a whole, for each one it was a learning yet very memorable experience. I am sure each one will surely have some tale to tell. We have already presented to you the views of all involved in the show through our newsletter. However, as we wrap up the show, we thought to revisit the experience once more and find out once again what the 4 mentors and the 7 semi-finalists have to say about the journey called IF SRGMP, Part 3. Here is the recap'.
Q. Explain your IF SRGMP journey in a few words...... |
Bhaskar.T ( Mentor) says....
Well for me its the third season now. In the first one I was the co-ordinator itself with Anol and later Barnalidi joined our team. But rest two seasons, I am the mentor and can say one thing, it was one of the best part of my stay here till date on IF. Really really enjoyed the whole contest a lot. It was a learning process too even as a mentor.
Q. Some words about your gharana contestants .... |
My four contestants well all have been like my very close buddies through out the contest. Though after elimination I lost contact with Aseel. Kiti, Mala and Sam, with all three I have had some really very touching moments here. All three very hard working and try their best to give their 100%. I would here like to give special kudos to Sam for her level of dedication. ๐ Mala with her constant ill health through out the contest still went on to give her best. Kirti with her highly busy schedule made sure to come out with her best. And the personal bonding that we all have formed is the best part of being associated with all of them!!! Love you all loads and remember my moto always - "Who so ever says : Its not if you win or loose that matters, has already lost." Come on now, give out your best!!!!

Q. Explain your IF SRGMP journey in a few words...... |
Kiti_g : It was a memorable journey, one that I will not forget! The contest itself is a unique one and I learnt so many things from so many people on the way and got some constant singing practice as well ๐. I made a number of friends and will cherish these friendships forever. To be honest, I am disappointed as well as relieved that this going to end soon. I will miss the recordings for sure, the last minute song-sending hiccups and those 'ab next round gana batao' PMs to BHaskar ๐. In fact I wont be surprised if i end up sending one of those even after the finals ๐
Mala_sss : Wonderful.Beautiful.Memorable.
Naughty_n_nice : I've had GREAT time as a part of the SRGMP experience, and i will really never forget it. Every round, i worked on different aspects of my singing, and with the guidance from so many here who are so knowledgeable and ready to help, i really have managed to move along! Even though i'm not the best singer here, i've discovered a new talent in me which earlier on I had refused to really explore into. And on the advice of the Barnali di and Bhaskar bro i'll definitely be taking professional singing training once i get free.
I've had amazing fun as a part of it too, made loads of friends, got loads of compliments and loads of critical comments too ๐. I've enjoyed each part of it, thank you, thank you, thank you!
Q. Some words about your mentor... |
.
Kiti_g : What can i say about Bhaskar! He is more a friend than a mentor! Extremely supportive and patient and i have never ever seen him upset or irritated with me and I have given him enough causes to be all that and more ๐ณ. Maybe he was actually irritated but covered it up with those smileys๐ , the advantages (or disadvantages) of the virtual world... j/k he has been a total sweetheart !!! and I'm gonna try my best to help him retain his 'winning mentor' title.
Mala_sss : Excellent! The BEST!!!
Naughty_n_nice : Bro is someone who comes off as a fun loving person normally, and he's completely that. But as a mentor, he's something else altogether! He'll make you WANT to work hard and prove yourself, and he simply WILL not give up on you! I love that caring nature about bro, and will really miss the daily galis once the contest's over! Thanks bro for everything!
Q. Explain your IF SRGMP journey in a few words...... |
Priya.Nair (Mentor ) says ....,
This show has been a great learning experience for me .Through this show I got to hear some good music and have met some very talented contestants.
Q. Some words about your gharana contestants .... |
They are all amazing singers and from the results you can see how proud they have made me and my gharana. They all are pretty well versed with music and hence makes my job that much easier. The contest is great as it tests different aspects that are not even there in any reality shows and my contestants are always up to the challenge. They attack each round with so much confidence that it makes my job a lot easier.
RocknRoll aka Anu : She is someone who is always on top on her song just like a hare. She has been for the most part technically sound and always waiting to hear feedback so that she can work and rectify them.
Evilseye - Sur has such a melodious voice with sufi as her strong forte. Since she is not trained she puts in a lot of effort to ensure she has nailed the technicalities .
Kalpa86- Padmaja Aunty has this soothing, mellow, thoughtful voice with a classical touch. When you start listening to her you can't just help but wanting for more.
Donny - She really lives up to the 'DON Ko pakadna mushkil hi nahi namumkin hai" She has the talent and a gifted voice but needs a lot of practice and confidence
(Note: We did not have a fresh quote from Priya for this recap, so we used her previous quote on the same subject.)

Q. Explain your IF SRGMP journey in a few words...... |
Lava26 says : I don't have any special memorable moments as such. I think the whole contest has been memorable.
Q. Explain your IF SRGMP journey in a few words...... |
Pradarshak (Mentor) says...
My journey with IF SRGMP started with the very first contest and I was a participant in Alaap(Punjini) Gharana. We had loads of fun - something I will treasure, got to know so many people here in IF. In the 2nd contest I was a passive participant giving feedbacks to the last winner Ashish (in the very first round I predicted about him to be the winner๐). This time I got this wonderful chance to mentor "Bandish" gharana, things were going great but I had to leave the contest due to my visit to India due to some personal problem. I am back and helping my Gharana contestant in this final stage. Wish her all the best and also to other contestants.๐๐ผ
Q. Some words about your gharana contestants .... |
Mini- I would say she is very serious and always tried to get her work done ahead of time. She has great protential and has a nice husky texture though I could not convince her (thought last round at least but it's RDB round๐) to use in some of the rounds.
Nik- He is a very confident singer and likes to plan ahead. Some of the songs he sang beautifully. I remember having some back n forth with the song "Chand mera dil".๐
Rabia- She has one of the sweetest n seasoned voice but her drawback is scale problem. She really worked hard and always willing to cooperate in every way to improve๐(even we had some yahoo chat sessions).
Tabu- Though she is not at all trained but whatever she did is encouraging. Her participation level was less but she always agreed on my song choice. She would appear from nowhere on the last day of submission with no such communication in between and submit her song๐.

MiniRulz says : IF SRGMP gave me a platform to show my singing ability to such a wide audience sitting in the comfort of my home...it was a journey full of emotions-happy,sad,angry,confusion but overall a great experience to be cherished forever....
Q. Some words about your mentor... |
We had had max. number of mentors in bandish๐and I happened to have a great rapport with all of them..starting with Barnalidi who was always there for us followed by our sweet Anuradha with whom I shared all my doubts, anger, happiness thorughout the contest and she took everything in her stride(like she does everything else).....
Pradarshakdi has been the coolest mentor๐ and always made me feel so comfortable.her suggestions/comments were always in a friendly way and never forced upon me...
Megha was a great mentor and is a friend๐...I admire her knowledge of music and she really made me improve my singing with her accurate suggestions/comments..
I want to thank the whole IF SRGMP committee, the judges, the mentors and last but not the least all my fellow contestants...It was great to compete with the best...all the best for the finals and may the best singer WIN๐๐ผ
That was the sentiment of the mentors and the semifinalists in a nutshell.
