The great maestro of Hindustani vocal classical music Pandit Bhimsen Joshi is been awarded Bharat Ratna........this is a great news...
Though Panditji had little to do with Hindi film music, few music directors used his virtue on very special occasions.......Shankar Jaikishan being one. He used the maestro's voice for a jugalbandi in Basant Bahar...this was sung by Panditji and Manna Dey..
It is said that Manna da was very afraid to sing this with Panditji and even ran away from studio. Panditji gave him confidence and then he could render the song very effecttively.....
