What's your opinion of a contestant to have an attitude when singing the song? e.g. Rimsha sung it beautifully on Saturday with right attitude and energy.

I understand Alka saying that a playback singer has to sing straight into the mic without moving around...but saregamapa being a visual show, I think the contestants should show certain energy and attitude in the songs, if the song requires that.

PS: Rimsha's face and singing attitude reminds me of Mini Sunidhi Chauhan :)
I can see Rimsha hosting the next lil champs - she is a full package.

It all depends on the perspective of the viewer. I personally do not care so much about the performance part if the singing conveys the right attitude and emotions. But some of my friends do.

My thinking is that in dance competitions the contestants are not expected to sing. So why should singers be expected to perform like dancers? (But this is just my opinion)

I actually appreciated Alka-ji's comments. I thought that her comments were quite instructive. (again, only my opinion)

Muse ji, but the judges contradict themselves - they say to some that you sang well, but the mood of the song was missing - or you sang well, but needed a bit more attitude in the song. I too appreciate that Alka stood by Nitin and explained what playback singers do.

I feel Nitin is very underrated and never get the attention as others get and he is definately a winner material, but song like Jhoom bara baar needs a bit more attitude. I mean it's not like Nitin has not danced before to the song - he has done once and all the judges praised him for coming out of his shell - so there you go, i feel the judges contradict themselves.

PS: Nitin is an awesome singer and i will be very happy if he makes it to top 3 and if he wins, I will have a huge smile on my face :)

Muse Ji I completely agree with you. Nitin shows the energy with his voice..he is very modest quiet down to earth whenever i see him its a pleasure..I never support too much dancing wid singing unless its a concert or sumthing..Rimsha sings okay...pls dnt kill me but i feel she shows off too much. Before she used to be so sweet like a barbie doll but since shes come a little into popularity she has ceased being a kid...a small girl like looks nice as a small girl not a wannabe model or pop star!!

Alka was 100% right..Nitin Emote perfectly when he sang Jhoom barabar...Just b/c guests could see contestant sing so comment was mad...
For playback singing only here is my views
Yes emoting in voice is extremely important deending upon the song's requirement be it happy, sad, romantic etc...But for that one does not need to move their body, cry especially dance.
But for performer on stage or concert one needs to be able to have proper emoting in singing as well as in performing..
As far as Nitin was concerned he sang perfectly well..
Zee I agree with you on Rimsha emoting well in singing as well as body performance..She is a total package..I hope her confidence does not go OTT where she might come across something different than what she is..

What ego???? I tried using magnifying glass to find ego on his face, but nothing lol

For playback singing - all you need is to emote with your voice.. Modulate it well, pitch it right, and just capture the feelings of the song on your voice... I think Nitin does that fantastically...
Yes, if it is more about stage performance - then you do need the showmanship as well along with singing.. that will come with practice and experience too..
But personally, I would not compromise on singing just to focus more on the showmanship piece.. I think ultimately it is all about singing..
As for Rimsha - I personally think she can tone down a bit.. her confidence often comes across as OTT.. Also, she moves too much even when she talks.. It looks cute now since she is a kid, but this is some feedback she might want to consider as she grows up..

NC ji, totally agree that playback singing does not require all the dancing around, but this competition is beyond playback singing - these kids are not gonna make it to playback singing the very next day the competition ends, they still will be doing shows and concerts - sadly that's what's gonna be required of them on the state (Dancing around). It's sad, but reality.

Being a visual show, audience wants all kinds of drama and masal in the show, that's what is gonna being the votes, it's a sad fact!!

Again, the judges need to make it clear that attitude in the song will not earn them extra score or good comments.
