Aahh, I see. The whole topic of gender identification always confuses me for there are such minute differences in how people identify themselves but they are still so paramount for that it is their identification. The whole concept of identity is so... troublesome for me. On one hand, it gives a source of pride, a sense of belonging, a category in which people can deposit themselves and definitively say this is who they are. But on the other hand, it has also created divisions and been a root cause of numerous amount of fights and wars. Let's suppose that there was no concept of identification at all, how would the world have functioned then?

Interesting question. The very concept of "Gender" has so many meanings today. There are people who do not identify themselves with any gender, rather they identify themselves as their own person, a human being. I believe they are called genderqueers. I might be wrong. I remember reading an article few weeks ago. It was on the development of gender identity. An average person's gender development begins at the age of 3 to 6 according to that article. But there are societal issues which do not allow them to realise or come out in the open.
If there was no concept of identification at all the world would have functioned in an entirely different way. I think it would shake up the very point of existence as a particular gender. There would be no discrimination. We can do what we want to do. Wear what we want to wear. There would be equality everywhere. There would be no subordination or domination.
But I'm not sure if a gender less society would be void of any problems. Afterall, the human mind can conjure up a problem in a matter of seconds. Maybe we'd be fighting about something else like how we're fighting for feminism or LGBT.

Oh there would undoubtedly be fights or wars for a different reason if not gender discrimination. But the fact that humans have become so fixated on confining themselves into an identification box is troubling. Yes, it's liberating to some, but it's also restrictive in that it narrows our perception in not only how we view ourselves but view others as well. It creates prejudices and biases and stereotypes that hinder in our abilities of accepting people for who they are. Yes, people are allowed to have their own beliefs and values, but where does one begin to cross the line into having these beliefs and values morph into their identity?

Interesting discussion. I was watching "Oh My God" the other day , and there was this dialogue that stood out to me. It was along the lines of this:
Paresh Rawal: Why do we even have religion? We should get rid of religion altogether.Akshay Kumar: Don't take people's religions away. Otherwise they will make you their religion. Now that I think about it, it really doesn't really go along with this discussion but anyways😆... It is a basic instinct for humans(see that is also a group :D) to want to get into groups like religion and gender. It gives them a sense of belonging. And I think that is perfectly fine. But it starts to become a problem when people want to force others to conform to their ideas and beliefs.Btw it's Gurleen, right? I have seen you around in the TEI forum!

That line is so apt on so many levels. Merely the idea of having no identification scares the life out of humans. Their need to belong somewhere is so strong that they will go to any extent to ensure that their personal void is fulfilled. True independence is achieved when you no longer have to rely on anyone for anything - especially not to feel your existence in the world is valid. The issue of conformity is one of the most troublesome matters in the world. If we feel like someone acts out of our immediate norm, then they are to be an outcast, an outsider. It can be for an issue as big as gender identity or something as trivial as to how someone acts while sitting in a bus. As a society we have created so many laws, rules and regulations on how we should act that we have placed a restriction on personal autonomy and imagination. There is no such thing as true independence in this world. No being has been able to achieve this and they never will.Yes, it is! Sorry, but I don't think I have interacted with you there before? Besides, I have been leaving a mark in multiple forums now so please do excuse me if I forget you in any manner. 😳Btw, can I safely assume that your name is Trish?
