The answer should be 4 girls and 3 boys.

Here is an explanation:

Let # of girls = x and # of boys = y

When boy says I have double the # of sisters than brothers

2(y-1) = x

When the girl says she has the sam # of brothers and sisters:

(x-1) = y

Putting the 2 equations together you get:

2(x-1-1) = x

# of girls x= 4

Since y = x-1

# of boys = 3
