Life's good right now: Vishal Karwal

Actor Vishal Karwal might have debuted on television with Roadies 4, but it was Splitsvilla Season One that got him recognition.

His on screen romance with co-contestant Shraddha Haribhai ensured that Vishal was among the most talked about contestants of the show. Now however, life has taken a 'religious' turn for him.

After quitting the prime time show, Sab Ki Jodi Wahi Banaata...Bhagyavidhata where he essayed the male lead and a short stint as the lead in Rishton Se Badi Pratha, Vishal's landed himself the lead role in the mythological Dwarkadheesh — Bhagwaan Shree Krishn. "I didn't want to repeat myself, so I decided to try something that I hadn't done before and step out of my comfort zone," he says.

For someone who has a predominantly young fan base thanks to his stint on reality TV, would a mythology based show be just what he needs at this point? He says nonchalantly, "I know I have young fans and I am not sure if some of them would really see a mythological show, but I am sure all good shows find their audience," says Vishal, who confesses that "dressing up in elaborate costumes" for this show has been an interesting experience.

Since films are a natural progression for most telly actors, Vishal's also taking the same trek. He's making his big screen debut with a Punjabi film Apaan Phir Milange co-starring Gracy Singh and will also do Ravinder Ravi's untitled next. "Acting was never planned. I was supposed to be in Mumbai only for three months when I signed Roadies, but it's been two years since I have gone home! I did an aviation course because I wanted to be a pilot, but recession forced me to be an actor! I'd love to be a pilot in future, but for now it is going to be television for me. As long as I get good offers I'll continue to work here," he says.

There was news that Vishal quit the TV show Rishton Se Badi Pratha because he refused to 'grey' in the show. Vishal confirms, "It was difficult to convince myself that I'd fit in as a 35/40 year old man," says Vishal.
Even though he's a small screen star, Vishal's got a perfectly toned physique to flaunt. He reveals his fitness mantra and says, "I don't work out because I am an actor. I hit the gym since last four years ago. Though I have busy shooting hours, I exercise every day. In fact, I've even gone to the gym at 2 am at times," says Vishal.
Vishal is a firm believer in karma. "If I do good to others, I will get returns. I am an optimist and see the positive side of life. I am satisfied with what I have. Life's good."

Talking about his personal life, Vishal clarifies that he's focused on his career. "Shraddha and I were seeing each other once, but after she went back to the US our relationship ended. Currently, I am single. And no, I am not dating Shalini Chandran as the rumours suggested," he signs off. Take a deep breath girls. The dimpled heartthrob is still heartwhole, footloose and fancy free.
