Has the show become repetitive.........

I also differ in opinion. I LOVE rishta.com. It is the best show on Indian television right now. I used to watch DMG occasionally and now I feel like crying when I see it. Then I used to watch MJHT and now with season two and main leads dying, I'm probably not going to continue with it. This is one show that has completely engrossed me! I never miss an episode and I usually end up watching it twice. The fact that each episode has a happy ending is so refreshing to see. Every show these days has got some pretty bechari crying for her beloved aashiq (mind you, she maintains to look gorgeous even with 2 liters of tears [oops! I mean – glycerine] running down her cheek). All this is going on with some random music playing in the background while some evil woman comes and poisons her drink or something. Women are put into two categories: bechari types or evil types. That's really shallow and does not represent the women of India.

The thing I hate about soaps is that they are so unrealistic! I mean, yeah, you have problems in your everyday life and its stressful but honestly they way they show it on other shows, it's like every living moment is excruciatingly painful. It's like living with one lung or something. Life's not that bad. There are ups and downs but it's about how you deal with them. If you sit in the corner and cry all day for your Raj/Rahul/Prem/etc, well, that's not going to get you a solution. And although love is important, there are other relationships in life too that soaps either destroy or completely forget about. I love how there is a resolution to every problem in rishta.com. It makes you think at times, instead of letting your brain turn into tapioca.

About the characters. I adore each and every one of them! Whether it is the main leads, Isha, Rohan, Ruchika and Huzeifa or even Sally. They are not one-minded characters. They've got depth to them which is almost impossible to come across. And most importantly, they are NOT perfect! Isha initially couldn't accept a senior (65 year old) wanting to marry somebody after his wife died. Rohan has his problem with girls and commitment. Huzeifa's got his own cute problems with profit/gain regarding the company. Nobody's perfect. I feel out of all the shows I've seen so far, Isha and Rohan have the best chemistry. People tie down the word "chemistry" with only couples but I think it's really awesome that these two are not in love (at least not yet) and they are still so comfortable with each other. Like mentioned above, they flirt very subtly and it's cute to see, not like the "sau janam, hum aapse pyar..." type dialogues. I love how rishta.com has showed them to be good friends that can actually have a conversation with each other about real things! If they do end up falling in love, I will still love them because instead of the heroine slipping on the floor and the hero catching her and then the 10 minute staring sessions with some romantic number playing in the background, they will have fallen in love in a very real way. I'm really surprised that you find a lack of chemistry in this show because chemistry is probably one thing I am watching this show for! I think if they do fall in love, it will still click with the audience. Maybe even more?

India is changing and its changing fast! I think this show is awesome and everybody can watch it! My nani doesn't like it. She'd rather sit and watch Krishna and that's totally fine with me. To a certain extent every show has an element of fantasy or unrealism (Ekta Kapoor shows have about 65-70% of a fantasy/unrealism element to them) because at the end of the day, when you sit in front of the idiot box, you want to just laugh and enjoy for an hour at a clever joke (not some stupid comedy that insults your intelligence) or just smile and say yeah, that's how it should be. I think rishta offers the right amount of realism with unrealism. A lot of people do go to marriage bureaus to look at rishtas. It does happen in India. Before some random aunty would tell another aunty, "My sister's neighbour's brother's daughter is perfect for your boy. She's a (insert caste here) like you..etc etc" but with a company, your reach is a lot further out and you have a higher chance of finding somebody you like. I don't think its that unrealistic. A lot of marriages in India are arranged as musicalrain said. And I cannot agree with this more, "After all, they don't seem to turn their backs at movies of Shahid, Shahrukh, Aamir, Saif, Hrithik etc. who portray the modern ideas in a more illustrative manner." All the new movies – they are all modernized and they work so well at the box office so why not accept rishta.com? It's hypocritical and sad to see the Indian audience miss out on such a fantastic show.

As for "chemistry"...I wonder, how many times in real life do you meet a couple you've known for years, or see two people walking down the street and think "chemistry!"...? What's with this constant obsession or drive of wanting to see or having 'chemistry'? 😕 I feel so allergic to this term, especially since it seems to be a synonym for 'trip, fall, catch, flying duppata, never-ending eye-locks, and ta-da, it's love.' I'd rather not see this 'chemistry' in R.com then. Let it be boring and repetitive.

When I posted the topic, I did not expect a discussion with so much"thought. Usually, one would expect " I disagree" or "I agree" without much though. I did not say the show is not good but just that once in a while thye can experiment with something new and probably fail in what they do miserably. While I understand that the urban population is very active in their own decision making, I wonder how many of these urbanites(in India) use companies like Rishta.com. I know people advertise in papers and word of mouth still works well. But, is it not weird that a father registers for his modern daughter....how believable is that? Some of the shows have been nice ---like a wife who can not bear a child wants her husband to marry again but can not really deal with the reality.

I also believe that YRF and Karan Johar have been on the forfront of experimenting ----silsila where a married man is in love with another woman, lamhe - where a man falls with a woman of half her age, dostana - open discussion of gay people, etc.

I am all for taking bold topics but at the same time a show should not cancel becuase of non acceptance for audience.

I already said that the show is funny and anyways it is entertainment....
