I had been deliberating about making my post on the Finale episode, I liked the episode a lot, it was a very sweet and cute episode, but it also had its share of disappointments for me. I wouldn't say I was 100% satisfied with the way show has ended. I wasn't sure whether the forum is ready to read about my disappointments (along with the positives), but at the end I decide to make this post because this is the last opportunity for me to do the episode analysis of the show, and I didn't want to miss it.
My top moments of the episode (in the order of my enjoyment)
1) The last JSP was one of the best moment of not just the episode, but the whole show.. It was beautiful, in conceptualisation, writing and delivery. The show couldn't have had a better ending than this. Loved every word of it, the way all the key characters have been included and Rajeev's way of presenting it. The thumbs up at the end was the perfect way to sign off..
2) The very last KaYa scene at the cafeteria, it was cuteness overloaded. Loved thier banter and the sulking Kabir, he was so very cute. How long I waited to see Ananya pacifying Kabir ;), but our Kabir is too sweet a boyfriend to prolong the pacification ;). A small complaint though, I would have loved to see the engagement ring back on Ananya's finger. Btw, this scene made me feel that it wasn't the next day after the RG exposure, but a few days or weeks later, the regained casual intimacy between them and the way Annaya talked about Manav holding meeting made me think so.
3) I didn't have much expectation on the reconciliation scene, it neither disappointed me nor overly impressed me. Kabir opening his arms and Ananya running into him, was slightly filmy, but the hug was the one of the best KaYa hugs ever, the shoulder kiss was tender & sweet, the contented look on their faces & Kabir's smile were delight to watch, the slight touch of the foreheads was certainly the highlight.
4) Kabir's demeanour when he walked upto Annaya to feed her the sweet, then his no nonsense talk about their personal and professional equation, the super confident handshake, loved the fact that Kabir lost his puppy dog look at last ;). Ananya was left speechless once more ;).
5) Team KKN was always a treat to watch, Khalid, Richa, sunny and baby, all did their part well. Sunny and Baby marriage talk was ber cute. Khalid & Kabir's mutual admiration was a sight to watch.
6) Liked the way Kabir told about how as journalists, they are one group and how they help each other to correct the mistakes. Remembered the same Kabir who was once obsessed about getting his one way all the time, And it was the same Richa who made him see sense after the Bhavna Shroff case. Kabir had come a full circle, he isn't the same obsessively power hungry Kabir Sharma anymore? But, I couldn't enjoy the scene fully, because of the context :(.
My Okish scenes. I guess most viewers might not agree with me on this,
1) Felt Ronnie look alike was not needed, they could have shown Richa developing feelings for someone else. Perhaps it was just two scenes, but the actor didn't portray any difference between Ronnie and Daljeet, the body language and expressions were just same, this and the weird exchange of looks between Kabir and Daljeet made me not like this introduction.
2) SK - Annaya convo didn't impress me much either, felt it wasn't really needed. Doesn't one imaginative conversation with a dead person enough for one show?
What disappointed me the most.. Anyone who isn't interested in reading the negative comments about the episode, please skip the next 3 points ;).
1) Manav's elevation to EIC.. Manav doesn't derserve to be made EIC, even Richa is a better journalist than him. Let's leave out his chamelion behabiour, In thse last 6 months he had not made a single breaking news for KKN, his only contribution to KKN is being the cause of sending out the old EIC Bhaskar. Making him EIC was totally unfair. I couldn't bear to see him in the EIC cabin and in the orange chair. And now he will be responsible for what goes on air. God save Khalid's bachha :(. Manav wanted the EIC chair for the status and power it represents, he is neither capable nor interested in the responsibilities that comes with the job. He got the job without going through any hardships, he will never undertand the value of it. I guess, if there is a season 2, we might see idelaogic battle between Manav and Kabir w.r.t the content aired. Two swords can't fit in one sheath, isn't it?
2) Kabir remaining as Business head. Kabir always gave me an impression that he is passionate about field reporting, just like Ananya, he wants to be close to the truth and bring it out to the public domain. Don't know whether anyone remembers, I always wanted Kabir to go back to plain reporting, now just the reverse have happened :(. I felt the reporter Kabir Sharma ceased to exist from the last episode :(. I know, Kabir will continue his bodyguard duty for Ananya while she pursuing her leads, that will probably keep his thirst for reporting and excitement satisfied for a while. But over a period of time, the responsibilities of his new position will start taking up most of his time, as Business Head is certainly a very important role with a huge set of responsibilities, then the reporting will take back seat :(. Somehow it felt like an injustice to the title of the show.
3) My biggest disappointment in the episode, Tarini and Anurag weren't even shown, if they are going to be ignored this way, what was the need of the showing them on Friday episode. Tarini was one character with lot of potential, who had been scarcely utilised in the show. And I really wanted one last scene of Kabir with Anurag :(
I am not a regular serial watcher, I can count in one hand the number of shows I followed. I am not the right person to comment whether Reporters is an unique show or not. The only thing I can say is, this show did indeed hold my attention till the very end, I cribbed, I criticised, but I was eager to watch too. There were shows where I waited for them to end, because I was just so bored and watched them just as a habit. Reporters had never moved to that category for me. And the cast, one of the best ever I had seen,. I enjoyed almost every actor's performance. All of them stood out in one scene or the other.
I had told this many times, the thing I liked most about the show, it's portrayal of human emotions, human relations and interactions, they were always close to reality, that too in an age where our TV shows thrive on over dramatising. That's the biggest plus of the show. That and the way most characters stayed close to reality. I will certainly miss that aspect of the show, and Kabir, my soul bro will be sorely missed too. I started feeling slightly alienated from him in the last few weeks, as the new improved too good to be true version of him doesn't really feel like a soul bro to a flawed person like me ;). Still I will miss him, but I will miss the original manipulative, smart, in control Kabir Sharma much much more. And ofcourse, I will miss the fiery, independent , daredevil Ms. Kahsyap a lot too.
Last, but certainly not the least, my fellow forum mates, I will miss each and every one of you and our interactions here.. It is definitely the best forum I ever participated in, Hats off to you guys!!
p.s : I am out of country currently, will be back home in another 10 days,. Guess, I will re watch atleast few episodes when I return back. If I do, I will share my thoughts in the forum..
