I had been deliberating about making my post on the Finale episode, I liked the episode a lot, it was a very sweet and cute episode, but it also had its share of disappointments for me. I wouldn't say I was 100% satisfied with the way show has ended. I wasn't sure whether the forum is ready to read about my disappointments (along with the positives), but at the end I decide to make this post because this is the last opportunity for me to do the episode analysis of the show, and I didn't want to miss it.

My top moments of the episode (in the order of my enjoyment)

1) The last JSP was one of the best moment of not just the episode, but the whole show.. It was beautiful, in conceptualisation, writing and delivery. The show couldn't have had a better ending than this. Loved every word of it, the way all the key characters have been included and Rajeev's way of presenting it. The thumbs up at the end was the perfect way to sign off..

2) The very last KaYa scene at the cafeteria, it was cuteness overloaded. Loved thier banter and the sulking Kabir, he was so very cute. How long I waited to see Ananya pacifying Kabir ;), but our Kabir is too sweet a boyfriend to prolong the pacification ;). A small complaint though, I would have loved to see the engagement ring back on Ananya's finger. Btw, this scene made me feel that it wasn't the next day after the RG exposure, but a few days or weeks later, the regained casual intimacy between them and the way Annaya talked about Manav holding meeting made me think so.

3) I didn't have much expectation on the reconciliation scene, it neither disappointed me nor overly impressed me. Kabir opening his arms and Ananya running into him, was slightly filmy, but the hug was the one of the best KaYa hugs ever, the shoulder kiss was tender & sweet, the contented look on their faces & Kabir's smile were delight to watch, the slight touch of the foreheads was certainly the highlight.

4) Kabir's demeanour when he walked upto Annaya to feed her the sweet, then his no nonsense talk about their personal and professional equation, the super confident handshake, loved the fact that Kabir lost his puppy dog look at last ;). Ananya was left speechless once more ;).

5) Team KKN was always a treat to watch, Khalid, Richa, sunny and baby, all did their part well. Sunny and Baby marriage talk was ber cute. Khalid & Kabir's mutual admiration was a sight to watch.

6) Liked the way Kabir told about how as journalists, they are one group and how they help each other to correct the mistakes. Remembered the same Kabir who was once obsessed about getting his one way all the time, And it was the same Richa who made him see sense after the Bhavna Shroff case. Kabir had come a full circle, he isn't the same obsessively power hungry Kabir Sharma anymore? But, I couldn't enjoy the scene fully, because of the context :(.

My Okish scenes. I guess most viewers might not agree with me on this,

1) Felt Ronnie look alike was not needed, they could have shown Richa developing feelings for someone else. Perhaps it was just two scenes, but the actor didn't portray any difference between Ronnie and Daljeet, the body language and expressions were just same, this and the weird exchange of looks between Kabir and Daljeet made me not like this introduction.

2) SK - Annaya convo didn't impress me much either, felt it wasn't really needed. Doesn't one imaginative conversation with a dead person enough for one show?

What disappointed me the most.. Anyone who isn't interested in reading the negative comments about the episode, please skip the next 3 points ;).

1) Manav's elevation to EIC.. Manav doesn't derserve to be made EIC, even Richa is a better journalist than him. Let's leave out his chamelion behabiour, In thse last 6 months he had not made a single breaking news for KKN, his only contribution to KKN is being the cause of sending out the old EIC Bhaskar. Making him EIC was totally unfair. I couldn't bear to see him in the EIC cabin and in the orange chair. And now he will be responsible for what goes on air. God save Khalid's bachha :(. Manav wanted the EIC chair for the status and power it represents, he is neither capable nor interested in the responsibilities that comes with the job. He got the job without going through any hardships, he will never undertand the value of it. I guess, if there is a season 2, we might see idelaogic battle between Manav and Kabir w.r.t the content aired. Two swords can't fit in one sheath, isn't it?

2) Kabir remaining as Business head. Kabir always gave me an impression that he is passionate about field reporting, just like Ananya, he wants to be close to the truth and bring it out to the public domain. Don't know whether anyone remembers, I always wanted Kabir to go back to plain reporting, now just the reverse have happened :(. I felt the reporter Kabir Sharma ceased to exist from the last episode :(. I know, Kabir will continue his bodyguard duty for Ananya while she pursuing her leads, that will probably keep his thirst for reporting and excitement satisfied for a while. But over a period of time, the responsibilities of his new position will start taking up most of his time, as Business Head is certainly a very important role with a huge set of responsibilities, then the reporting will take back seat :(. Somehow it felt like an injustice to the title of the show.

3) My biggest disappointment in the episode, Tarini and Anurag weren't even shown, if they are going to be ignored this way, what was the need of the showing them on Friday episode. Tarini was one character with lot of potential, who had been scarcely utilised in the show. And I really wanted one last scene of Kabir with Anurag :(

I am not a regular serial watcher, I can count in one hand the number of shows I followed. I am not the right person to comment whether Reporters is an unique show or not. The only thing I can say is, this show did indeed hold my attention till the very end, I cribbed, I criticised, but I was eager to watch too. There were shows where I waited for them to end, because I was just so bored and watched them just as a habit. Reporters had never moved to that category for me. And the cast, one of the best ever I had seen,. I enjoyed almost every actor's performance. All of them stood out in one scene or the other.

I had told this many times, the thing I liked most about the show, it's portrayal of human emotions, human relations and interactions, they were always close to reality, that too in an age where our TV shows thrive on over dramatising. That's the biggest plus of the show. That and the way most characters stayed close to reality. I will certainly miss that aspect of the show, and Kabir, my soul bro will be sorely missed too. I started feeling slightly alienated from him in the last few weeks, as the new improved too good to be true version of him doesn't really feel like a soul bro to a flawed person like me ;). Still I will miss him, but I will miss the original manipulative, smart, in control Kabir Sharma much much more. And ofcourse, I will miss the fiery, independent , daredevil Ms. Kahsyap a lot too.

Last, but certainly not the least, my fellow forum mates, I will miss each and every one of you and our interactions here.. It is definitely the best forum I ever participated in, Hats off to you guys!!

p.s : I am out of country currently, will be back home in another 10 days,. Guess, I will re watch atleast few episodes when I return back. If I do, I will share my thoughts in the forum..

geeta :

agreed on your take of the episode.. liked the way you pointed out your "likes and dislikes ", i had the same thoughts too. specially the part about Manav being undeserving of the EIC post. he never proved his worth, rather tried to save his skin by siding with Kabir at the last moment. and that's why i had loved it when a couple of episodes back Kabir declared to KKN that he was the "Business Head AND EIC " of KKN. ohh how i wish he remained that ! yes he isnt the power-hungry person anymore but he's certainly the most deserving one !

the hug though filmy, was the best KaYa hug ever ! although in the last scene i too expected to see the ring back on Ananya's finger, specially after seeing the intimacy they shared in that scene. but it's useless to crib about it now, i guess such glitches are bound to happen when you have to so many loose ends to tie up in a short span of time.

Ronnie's lookalike was okay for me. Richa's shock and disbelief was very well portrayed in that scene. what intrigued me in that scene was the look Kabir shared with him - it seemed as if the two had a small eye talk with each other at that moment, perhaps there's something more to this Daljeet Singh Khullar that only Kabir knows and not the others. woh mujhe kuch theek nahi laga.

and about the old Mr.Manipulative Sharma, i think there's no point in cribbing about him. being manipulative never formed the core of Kabir's being, unlike Shreya, it was only his defense mechanism to save his soul from more damage. when he entered KKN he used it in his every step of life and work. today as his old wounds have healed, he doesnt need that anymore. of course, unless it's badly required and the last resort. just as we saw in the last few days of the show. as long as he was playing it fair, people were trying to break him apart. the moment he resorted to underhand playing by revealing Shreya's mental illness to the world, he ripped his opponents apart overnight. so it's not that we lost the manipulative, shrewd EIC entirely .. he's at peace being his own self finally, but that doesnt necessarily mean that he has forgotten the lessons life taught him.

same thing about Ananya. she's rational, logical, analytical, objective with the ability to see the bigger picture and think out of the box, in fact all the qualities that goes in the making of an excellent reporter, but as long as she isnt dealing with anything personal. once she gets personal her judgement tends to get clouded, resulting in situations that do more harm than good. but the process of delivering justice to her dead father had taught her a lot hopefully and in case a SSN2 happens, i would love to see a much wiser Ananya, professionally and personally.

waise there's one thing that wasnt clear to me - Kabir's words and handshake to Ananya just before the hug. can you just explain it to me? did he gave up on Ananya?

Very nice post Geetha. I liked your review. I agree with you on Manav becoming the EIC. That guy certainaly dosent deserve it. I too couldnt bear to see him in that room on that orange chair. That cabin and chair have become synonymous with Kabir for us. So many sweet KaYa moments in that cabin. Manav in Kabirs cabin and Kabirs position was too much unbereable for me. If there is a season 2 i hope they send off Manav to singapore and continue with Kabir as EIC. Then it will be watchable. Otherwise there definitely will be clashes but we do have hope coz business head is powerful than EIC so Kabir and Khalid can always overthrow Manav in case he turns back to his own self. Afterall they are the major shareholders. One more doubt now that he is not EIC will he still read 9 o clock khaas khabre Kabir kr saath or not? reporters will not be the same without him behind the news desk neither will KKN be. I hope makers keep all this in mind if they plan a season 2.

Good to finally read your take on the episode.. I was actually looking forward for it and I thought to PM you if you don't post by this weekend ;) gave you some grace period as I remember you saying you were traveling :)

I didn't watch the episode, Khalid's bacha sure seems gonna be in trouble with new EIC..something to look forward to in second season(if it happens).

Anyway it was really nice to interact with you and importantly friendly conversations ;)
All the best, do keep writing :)

Also, Priti all the best to you too!

Hi Geetha !!

Thanks for writing and thanks to Prito to inspire u to write this. ..Was waiting for your final analysis.

I completely agree to your each and every like as well as dislike but being the last episode and earlier blooper filled episodes I kinda ignored all those elements.

I so loved Khalid saying thats My KKN AND last JSP just made forgwt everything else though I would have liked one more Kaya moment as you mentioned that she should have asked Kabir to put ring back on her finger.

In case if season two happens I would like to see Manav talking advantages of his position and thereby leads to conflicts and loses his position or do some good reporting and be efficient to deserve EIC position.

Please keep coming on forum to stay in touch and do post your further analysis of episodes after rewatching them.

Till then enjoy your trip 🤗

Geetha...thanks for the post...atleast someone is disappointed like me
For me.I just failed to connect with the characters...kept waiting for Anu's realisation...atleast her thought process to be shown to us...
My disappointments ...ofcourse never was going to like Kaya reconciling like this..but hug was good...
Only moment I liked was Kabir walking off after shaking hands...
I so wanted Kabir to be back to reporting and atleast once i wanted him to be shown with Panditji
I feel totally alienated from the characters rather than feeling vaccuum..

Hopefully after some time...will be able to.watch my Kabir once again

Hey Geetha!

For past couple of days I have patently waiting for your post as I knew you pov will give me a equilibrium which the episode couldn't do for me. In fact had planned to put a pm to you too but have been bzy at work n Navratras.
So a big Thank You for putting it down and also thanks to Priti for her efforts

I agree to you on most points which I liked but what I liked most was the sweet feeding scene where Kabir for the first time looked without any baggage of past not any guilt. He looked confident in his own skin. He was neither pleading nor needing to be heard..
I found it cute the whole Kabir Ananya reconciliation, because once again in affirmed for me that Kabir is n will always be the giver in this relationship.
The kiss on the shoulder for me symbolized that he knew he was home finally!

I agree with all the disagreements specially Manv fir me he was no where deserving it because he still had a lot of learning but than looking n reviewing the while Manav promotion scene my mind whispered he was the vibhishan in this Ramayana.meaning in every story we see read or listen the morale comes that truth will eventually win over evil and in the age old epic too truth alone couldn't win so he needed help of vibhishan and eventually ram had made him the king of Lanka
So how come here it would have been different.

Personally I do not agree with Kabir Leaving EIC chair for Manav, he should have been groomed may be as Sub Editor or co editor or something and then with time indeed if the change was positive or permanent then may be

The look alike for Ronnie was a complete failure.. Didn't serve anything not even humor.

Like everyone else I loved loved the JSP.. In all ways the words the presentation the happy twinkle in Kabirs eyes.

------------------------------------------------------

Also please forgive but I m coping my post from the D here for you to have a glimpse on my original thoughts

Reporters :: Final Episode - A Cresendo.

if its not right then it's not the end.

Once again the finale for reporters set this ideology for me.
I have always believed personally in that there us no absolute perfection rather it is the strive to perfection that makes the journey interesting & worthwhile

Tonite when it was the last being telecasted i had not felt the pinch, will be absolute lie yet I was ok with it because I had signed on it because of its finite nos.

A story is a way, a expression to reflect a ideology, a thought which eventually helps you to face this life. This struggle where when you stop is the end..

Since childhood we tell our kids the fables & as adults we read stories, watch them but the change of the medium doesn't make a difference because ultimately we are seeking affirmation for our beliefs & actions

So for me Reporters bought that.
SK got justice
KABIR Ananya were together
KKN was focused once again
& Manav EIC (A surprise for me because I wanted Manav to grow a little more As a Human, As a Professional)
The highlights of this series for me was
KABIR- A well written male protagonist
Who was human Flawed somewhere yet had the strength to accept it.

Love- The ultimate emotion. People who touch our lives became a part if it, Different Shades of love

So once again.
As KABIR said in Jaane Se Pehle..
There is nothing that we do not know, what makes the difference is applying it living it because once we are gone everything is gone

You know what, if I ever this last episode again, I will certainly skip the Manav in EIC cabin scene, I hated it that much. I think Kabir will continue to do his Khass Khabar, isn't it supposed to be the top rated programme?
