Here is my take on the issue of distance between Kabir and Ananya.
(My intention is not to second guess the CVs. I know I am not competent enough to do that!)
First things first, I admit that we might not get to see the 0.00005 inches distance (which is so famous on this forum!) being further reduced anytime in the near future.
On the contrary, many of us are predicting the opposite. Most of us feel Kabir is going to increase the distance between the two by telling Ananya about his being an womanizer etc.
And, here is why I feel it is good, if he actually increases the distance.
1) Ananya is quite capable of proving her worth without his support. The way she took on Malvika today is proof for this. And, Kabir would like her to fight her own battles instead of being a sissy and expecting him to do it for her.
2) Nepotism is a bad thing at work. He might consider Ananya his friend or even accept he loves her, later on. But, the last thing he would want is for the whole office to accuse him of partiality towards his stupid reporter. This is especially because the reporter in question is actually quite competent in her own right. So, distance is good...especially at work.
3) His way of handling Ananya is to give her strength to fight, instead of offering a shoulder to cry on. We saw this during the Baghi case. So, he will maintain his distance at work and prove his friendship in other ways. He can try and put Malvika in place. That would help..just saying! Distance would be for her to prove herself. She can try to get closer to him after office hours. Send some more messages, maybe? :-)
4) Distance is going to allow Ananya to understand the difference between a boss/friend/lover, especially when all three are the same enigmatic Mr. Sharma. She does tend to get confused, based on how she called him for advise during that lover-about-to-commit-suicide-wala case.
5) Last but not the least, distance makes hearts grow fonder! :-)
