I am not voting because I am not too sure. But. I think she is his ex - girlfriend who is not alive or who IS alive but not with him. Or. Best friend for whom he had some feelings, who is not with him anymore. Dead or alive.

I think it's his ex who ditched him coz he wasn't ready to compromise on his moral values during his struggle days...hence she moved on...😃
