After getting an overdose of actresses sleeping & waking up with make-up and OTT jewelry and costumes on the fictional daily soaps for ages, the audience now get to see some sensible styling on historic and mythological shows. Mythological shows have left the usual serials far behind when it comes to styling & look of the characters, as the costumes are apt and well justified, as compared to the loud and tacky jewelry and costumes seen on most of the daily shows.

Lets take a look at 5 best shows that boasts of best costumes-

1.Siya Ke Ram.

The trailer of this upcoming show surely takes us back to the bygone era & gives us the look and feel of the Ramayan times with a contemporary twist . We absolutely love the way the actors have been styled. Siya comes across as elegant, fragile, yet strong headed personality in her pastel colored lehenga choli with comparatively light jewelry that well defines her character. Ram's look also makes up for his strong personality, sharp & uncomplicated character, keeping it light with minimalist jewelry.

2.Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat.

The little Ashoka totally shines in his princely look & justifies his persona with his styling close to SRK from the movie, 'Asoka'. Those earrings & chain around his neck & kada spell royalty, adding substanceto the character. The other characters also blend well with the royal era of the show with the women strutting in heavy embroidered lehenga in vibrant contrasting colors & men donning heavy sherwanis & dhotis & shawls made from rich silk. The jewelry is also elegant and classy.

3.Devon Ke Dev. Mahadev.

Mohit Raina became a nationwide rage as Shiv during his super successful stint in the show owing to his acting & looks, but due credit to be given to the stylist who made him look exactly like the image of god Shiva, that people had on mind. Full marks for Sati and Parvati's look as well, as they carried off interesting saree drapes with elegance exuding sensuality with grace and dignity, coming across as strong women. We were not really fond of Mouni Roy's tube blouses but nonetheless, she pretty much carried it off & looked her gracious best.

4.Jodha Akbar.

We have watched the magic Ashutosh Gowariker weaved in his movie 'Jodha Akbar' & it is commendablefor the makers of the TV show, to cast same spell with larger than life sets, beautiful costumes and vintage jewelry. The styling for the show was immaculate and impressive. Everyone on the show wore intricately designed outfits & jewelry,taking us back to the rich Mughal and Rajputana heritage. It must be something, to pull off these outfits with such ease and class! We surely, loved every bit of it.

5.Bharat Ka Veer Putra - Maharana Pratap.

The cast of Maharana Pratap has been impeccably styled, keeping the royalty theme & the time of the actual events in mind, with exclusive, vintage & elegant outfits. Faisal Khan & Sharad Malhotra looked dapper in the well fitted attire. The ladies carried off the ethereal & heavily embroidered lehengas with such grace, the designers out there, could take some cues from the leading ladies. The beautifully designed blouses, The multi layered lehengas, the earthy styling gave a little bit of Sabyasachi feel. The kundan neckpieces, earrings, maang tikkas are to die for. The serial started the trend of hair chains with tikkas and inspired quite a few trends. Over all, we just loved the idea of teaming vintage traditional jewelry with modern outfits.
