I would love it if Sanaya made it to the movies. So far, there have been only a few successful (truly , consistently) exports into Bollywood from the TV industry - ShahRukh Khan, Vidya Balan, Irfan Khan and now Sushant Singh Rajput. Yami Gautam and Ayushman did make a good impact, but they got lost in unimpressive movies after Vicky Donor. It's difficult for TV stars in Bollywood, Sushant said so himself in an interview. I remember he said that you have to be very patient, and wait for the role and network , keep tabs, etc.. which is quite taxing, and can sometimes make you frustrated.
There were countless women heroes in our history, but no one talks much about them. There was the Begum Hazrat Mahal of Awadh, who led her armies against the British after they murdered the Nawab of Awadh. She was in her late 20s. There was the female battalion of the Azad Hind Fauj, Annie Besant, Sarojini Naidu, Razia Sultana, P.T.Usha, Bachandri Pal , and the list goes on.

Andhi was partially based on Indira Gandhi's life. At the time of it's release, she was the PM, and she almost had it banned.

Wikipedia says the movie 'Aandhi' was not based on Mrs. Gandhi's life, only the look was inspired by her.

The director "Gulzar said the film had no semblance with the personal life of then Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. He wanted to make film about modern Indian politician, and so he modelled the character on Indira Gandhi and to some extent on noted parliamentarian from Bihar, Tarkeshwari Sinha."

Years ago there was a Doordharshan series 'Anandi Gopal'

It was about Anandi Gopal Joshi, who had the distinction of being one of the first two Indian women to get a degree in Western Medicine in 1886.
She might be the first indian woman to visit America

She died the following year of TB. Sad ending but very inspiring story.

I'm not saying she jumps to Bollywood!! 😆 Just that she can try both! Where ever there are good roles! Does Sushant have a PR?! Anyway, that is what I want too!! The unknown heros included!! 😉 Thanks! That Begum Hazrat sounds interesting!! Who's Annie Besant?! And all the others?! I 'll looked them up! 😃

@bold my thoughts exactly...would love to see Sanaya in a movie too...but i suppose it takes a lot of time; a couple of yrs plus max...waiting for her that long impossible hoga for me...

I actually mentioned in the previous threads...sanaya too wanted such a role...if "Sadma" gets remade it will be interesting for sanaya...of course a lot of BW leading ladies would fight tooth and nail for this...

have you guys seen Sweet HOme Alabama...such a cute romantic movie (Reese Witherspoon)...that also can be adapted to a TV show or even a lovely BW flick

we all def will have a long list of such favs for Sanaya...lets dream on till she makes in that appearance...

Sanaya would be great in Sadma 😊
The whole Jaipur track in RR, esp. afer they both get drunk, the way PARUD and Paro behaved reminded me very much of Sadma 😃

Sweet home Alabama is a sweet movie
Legally blonde would be great too except in Indian version the FL can't be blonde

Shreya- They do it for the money, why else? Kangana Ranaut very candidly accepted it in Rajeev Masand's interview with her. Or they do it for their friends, as Deepika said when asked about her decision to do Happy New Year.
Annie Besant, Sarojini Naidu were freedom fighters. P.T.Usha was India's famous athelete (still is, and now she trains girls) who is an Asian Games legend. Bachandri Pal was the first woman on Everest, an Indian, and she was in her early 20s when she scaled the mountain. The Azaad Hind Fauj was the Freedom army started by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, to fight the British. Sadly, they were marooned in Burma, and were captured. Many of them were murdered or shipped to Port Blair to be imprisoned at the infamous Black Water (kaala paani ) Jail. They had a female battalion, who fought alongside the men, they acted as spies, as informers, as couriers and as ground soldiers.

Betti- Whatever wiki says or Gulzaar Sahab says, it can't take away from the fact that Mrs Gandhi was so concerned that she really did try to get it banned. Don't know why, it is a gem.
I remember watching that show on Anandi Joshi too. In fact, she , a Japanese lady and one Turkish aristocrat's daughter were the only 3 non Americans in the college. And it shows how her husband supports her, how her MIL is such a lovely person. Not to mention her own determination.
