I don't think Sanaya will try another matured role again after that.

Age doesn't dictate maturity. Paro was all of 21, but still mature. A mature character has meat, as in a strong write-up, which Chanchan didn't have. There can be realistic stories about women in their late 20s, who have complicated lives and careers. Something which Chanchan didn't have. There can be stories involving married women which don't involve an evil-plotting in-law. Again, Chanchan failed there.
Someone mentioned Revenge, but EHT tried it, and it seems like it doesn't work. What is needed is for all channels to take a collective decision and stop doling out crap. Then people will have more good content to watch. Shows that truly entertain and inspire, and are not just used as background noise in family time.
I just started watching a Pakistani serial called Talkhiyan. It's based on an Indian novel, the God of Small Things. There was a show called Mera Naseeb, based on Sister of My Heart, another Indian novel. They also made Mahmoodabad ki Malikayin, a show based on Daphne DuMaurier's Rebecca. So why is the Indian TV industry not making use of the rich literature available to us? The reason Pakistani shows generate such global acclaim is that they're based on novels, mostly written by women. That's why all the female characters in their show are so wonderfully written too. I wish we could see SOME of that in India.

"I want [female characters] to be allowed to be weak and strong and happy and sad - human, basically. The fallacy in Hollywood is that if you're making a feminist' story, the woman kicks ass and wins. That's not feminist, that's macho. A movie about a weak, vulnerable woman can be feminist if it shows a real person that we can empathize with." "Natalie Portman makes a spot-on observation in Elle magazine about a hurdle female characters often face"namely, that if you're not an ass-kicking, fearless warrior princess then you get some of your feminist points taken away.

I read this and wanted to share it. I think the most important thing is one plays an interesting character and be part of a story that is entertaining. It is possible to have a boring warrior princess and an interesting housewife. The writer can make any character interesting. So, I don't think Sanaya needs any epic or very literary story, she just needs a writer who has a good understanding of humanity in general and women in particular 😆

And while romantic stories are most fun, I do hope that whatever character she picks has some other endgame other than a man. Maybe some personal achievement, anything. And whatever you do, Sanaya, please don't play a character where you need to tame a man. Or in which your character needs to be tamed! Let characters learn to love each other -- warts and all 😊

The book I was talking about is a story of a Scottish 17 year old Jennifer Merrick, who is sent to a convent because her people think she is a pigheaded, haughty and also responsible for her best friend's accidental death , which in real are rumors, for which one of her step brother is responsible .. and then from the abeeys(convent) the story of Jennifer starts...
So In actual jennifer is a strong, brave, courageous girl whose only dream is to be loved by her people, which ofcourse was ruined by her own step brother...

And she gets a chance to prove her people that she is not as the rumor says, and that chance was given by her father, who asks jenny to marry a king, who is double jenny's age just becoz he promises her father to join his forces to fight the english .. and jenny torn between her disgust for the man whom her father asked her to marry and her responsibility towards her people and her country, the same people who hate her and she wants to be loved by them, she agrees for the agreement ... but the same evening, she, along with her step-sister, is kidnapped by english, the same people whom her father is fighting ... and there begins the love-hate story of jenny and her captor, a warrior who is rumored to be barbarous ... but as jenny fought him, never giving up, being a courageous she was, the only thing which use to run in her mind was that-- she cant put her people to shame, cant put her country's pride down ... and she fought... fought with so much pride and courage that her own captor appreciated her , a appreciation she so badly wanted to hear from her people... but got from a man, who had kidnapped her, who was fighting her own people...

and her captor desired her... wanted her ... but tried to curb his desire and failed miserably ..Royce, jenny's captor, the warrior wanted her and the opportunity came knocking at his door -- Brenna, jenny's sister caught a coughing fit and jenny pleaded Royce to let her free as her remedy can be found only back home... and Royce's bargain was Jenny in exchange of letting Brenna free... and Jenny agreed, believing she is sacrificing her virginity for her sister's life, which is a noble deed in her God's eyes. ... and thus she lost her virginity to Royce and inturn Royce lost his heart to this chit of a girl..

But one day as they were strolling on the hill, Royce was called , as his King had send some message for him. and he, believing Jenny not to try to escape, was leaving her when they heard some disturbance in the bush and jenny saw who it was, it was her step brother william, her only brother who really loved her ,... but Royce din saw... and as he was about to inspect, Jenny gave him a soul touching kiss, a kiss she believed was to distract him ... but as she realized it will also be her good bye kiss to the man , who world thought to be barbarous , but he was never the one with her, and the man to whom she had lost her virginity and had the best time of her life, the kiss became as pure as her heart... and it touched Royce's straight in the heart , and he left her there alone ... smiling at her, mistaking her kiss to be her feelings for him, which was partially true too ...

And thus when he was asked to give over Jenny , as per order of his king , to the shrewd man who had came to take Jenny to his king , Royce refused to obey the orders ., and declared that he wished to marry Jenny ... and his all hope met dust when his men informed that Jenny had escaped ...

Royce felt betrayed and more than that he felt foolish to be duped by a chit of a girl ... and he became a laughingstock in his own country and thus his King ordered Royce to marry Jenny, a idea which almost felt like heaven to Royce a week ago, but felt like a punishment as he stood in the court of his King ...

They married ,both unwillingly, one crushed by his King's order and the other by her father's order .. but the passion they felt for each other , refused to die even then... many misunderstanding between them got cleared as they talked it out ... and Jenny, who had got a horrid welcome by the people , who were now hers, because of the belief that she had betrayed their lord , worked really hard to make the English people, who were now hers , to prove that she is loyal to them, and she did proved ...

But everything changed when Royce killed Jenny's stepbrother, William, the only brother who loved Jenny dearly ... and Royce was guilty, he believed he was guilty , but it was not intentional , it happened in a reflex ... and thus Jenny made her distance with Royce ... and her Father, tried to bend the situation in his favor by wooing jenny and making Royce a laughingstock in front of his own people ... which did became as at a joust, where warriors from 3 countries had participated and Royce had taken 12 challenges, which was picked by King of England and not him, ...out of 12 , 3 were Jenny's kinsmen; one her step brother and one her father ... and she, trapped in her father's sweet talk and misunderstanding Royce to kill her kinsmen again , decided to sit with her father, in front of her country's flag and made a laughingstock of her husband , just what her father wanted ...

But as Royce took the field with her kinsmen in front of her, she left the tournament, not wanting to see her people die in front of her eyes, killed by her own husband ...

And then her brother-in-law came barging in her chamber, demanding her to go and see her husband die in the field as he was not lifting his sword against her people, and Jenny ran, realizing that Royce had kept his promise of not hurting her kinsmen... On reaching , she found her husband unhorsed and was taking every wound by her kinsmen, just because he had promised her ...

And then she , in front of people of 3 country , went on her knees, and, despite of her husband asking her to not do this , she apologized in front of not only her people, but in front of people of 3 country ...

And then when she gave a heir to her people .. Royce took his beautiful wife, standing in the balcony, he picked her and made her wave at her people... the people who now loved her and respected her more than her husband... just the kingdom she wanted,... the kingdom of her dream... and Royce, her love, helped her to get her kingdom of her dream...

Phew... did it 😆

Actually what I liked about this story is, it was Jenny 's story along with her love story .. It was not only her story of getting a husband who loved her , but also a kingdom which she dreamnt of ...

I loved this story and really want the picture of Indian Television change, were get to see such heart touching story instead of the same saas-bahu sagas

I have not read the one you mentioned ... I want to read 'Whitney, my love'. again by Judith McNaught ..but cant find in my college's library , and I really hate reading through any device...

Oh ...yes...how can I forget jenny's aunt😆 I forgot her name ... it was something eliton or something ... she cling to royce when he was again sort of kidnapping Jenny ...and all she ever wanted was to talk 😆 Poor Arik, .. do you remember him??😆

And yes, Royce was called Scourge of Scotland ... but he is a very interesting character , isnt he?? He was scary and intimidating ... but there was something soft about him too ... which Jenny saw ..

What I liked about this story is, as i said.. it was more about the female protagonist than the male ...

Sanaya is taking a long break as she said herself. When Sanaya said something she's never wrong...I predict she will be back mid of next year.

I hope she enjoys her time off and come back with something bigger and better. I want Raghuvir Shekhawat to write the dialogues of Sanaya new show. He's amazing with his dialogues and I love the way he interacts with fandoms.

Nice story!! But I don't think indian audience would like it!! If they didn't like RR then I doubt they would like or understand this kind of quality writing !! These days people don't want to apply their minds to shows!! They like the drama effect!! 😡 This kind of reminds me of RR a little!! But it's a nice thought!! Maybe one day, who knows!! 😉 Thanks for sharing!! 😊
