Such an old fashioned word,...sounds so Victorian and outdated, yet couldn't find a word that describes this stage of Rudra Paro relationship more aptly or perfectly.
The time when two strangers get to know each other. The reprieve granted to two people, who have committed or pledged their lives together, to understand each other. To share their deepest thoughts and feelings, to know their preferences, the reasons behind the actions, the moral or principles behind lives, the truths and the lies...in essence the most important and sweetest time in a couple's life. The time when they slowly and gradually get close, opening each layer and facet of their lives, step by step. It is slow and sweet, this prelude to marriage. And the wise been there done that people around us insist...its the best phase of a couple's lives and should be enjoyed to the fullest cause never again does this, beautiful getting to know and appreciate each other phase, come back. This unique period where some mysteries are revealed, some puzzles pieced, and slowly the person you have pledged your life to, emerges from the hazy outlines of unknown, to the familiar and confident picture of a known and trusted life partner.
Rudra and Paro, especially Rudra is courting Paro. Taking out time to understand her, her thoughts, her likes, dislikes, her feelings and Paro too is learning tons about what makes this man tick. What goes on behind those deep eyes, what is seething deep in his stony insides, what makes his heart beat or skip a beat. His withdrawals, his anger, his broodiness, slowly and surely, she is learning to read him, just like he is making her a study. And he sees it all, and has been doing so for a while now. Love the way he is taking it, step by step. He needs to be around her, spend more time with her, in order to know her better. And a logical mind like his could not have handled it any other way.
And its special, cause here the foundation of a life time is being laid. This is where love, respect, trust and understanding takes root. What was before was attraction, strong, solid, unbeatable, unstoppable!! A pull that could not be described. And now they are falling in love, slowly and steadily, gradually and guardedly. Each incident, each day opening a new door, unraveling a new facet or side of their partner to them. This love story, any love story, does not make sense without this getting to know each other phase. If this time is not given and taken by the couple, love sounds very hollow and superficial. It lacks the depth of understanding, the confidence of knowledge and the trust that time and tide bring.
Rudra is opening his heart and his soul to her, letting her see his deepest wounds, letting her caress his scars, sharing his tears and letting them spill from her eyes...and for some one like Rudra this means he is in love. This is as good as an admission of love. He is letting her in, in his life, in his heart and mind, in his soul. Finally accepting this beautiful woman, and trusting her like he has trusted no one since he was abandoned.
And for Paro, its a dream come true. She is finally getting closer to the man, her man!! She sees hope, which she never dared to even glance at a few days back. She is happy, happier than she has ever been in her life and of course, such happiness brings fear, insecurity and worries with it. They say when you are the happiest, you are also the most scared. She is afraid to even blink, lest she wakes up from this beautiful dream.
Team RR...Beautiful!! Thank you for granting our Paro and Rudra such a romantic, heart warming, and realistic courtship period!! Their journey continues...

Very nicely written ! Yes, they are getting to know each other.. I love how in RR they always communicate so well.. They tell each other what they feel.. That's what makes it different.. Since we didn't really get to see paro falling for rudra very well it's nice to see this courtship period now..

Yup..thats a unique thing about RR. The characters talk..they communicate and that is what makes them more real..like you and me. I know ...it was instantaneous...the way she fell in love with him overnight...they actually put the cart before the horse, meaning they showed her in love before even showing this phase. Either ways...this was much needed 😊!!

Hi Eve,

missed you so much...
lovely post again
what struck me very much is your line "They say when you are the happiest, you are also the most scared."... so true... and most importantly, the contrary is true as well. When you have seen the lowest of low, you are not scared any more ...except probably of becoming happy again ...as you know how the fall feels... as you truely know the depth of that fall... and hence you can explain Rudra's attitude towards life, his wariness in encompassing any happiness

Lovely sum up of a wonderful episode eveline!
it is the best part - when they are discovering each other - letting each other in and making the bonds stronger inch by inch- beautifully done by the CVs
I can feel Paro's fear too that finally her man is opening up to her - but happiness for her is always so short-lived that she fears it! and Rudra - willing to now lay open his soul to his love - beautiful!
