Love to Rudra was like oil kept near water. Both do not mix. He had conditioned himself in such a way that he would not be touched by any emotion and with that hard exterior and his sharp words ,he had succeeded.
Or so he thought.
Then,one fine day,she came waltzing into his life unannounced. All this time,she was with him,he had considered her a hindrance,constantly a thorn in his side.
She was gentle and fierce at the same time. She was kind and strong too. She had this deep well of patience in her which when he dwelled upon,drove him crazy.
His harsh words did not seem to affect her. Her eyes looked at him unwaveringly,full of love. Love which he shied from,which he loathed.
He lashed at her trying his best to shake her love for him. Love which he did not need. He was fine,being alone. It was how he had been all his life and he had no intention to change now.
He tried everything to shake her off but to no avail. And suddenly he started to feel this uncomfortable constriction somewhere deep within him,every time he saw her in tears or felt a shadow of pain cross her face. He waved it aside.
He hurt her with his words,he hurt inside. He shouted at her,he felt miserable later.
Then one day ,he felt like taking her into his arms and laying like that forever. He started to speak up for her, against anyone who dared hurt her in any way. Her value in his life was increasing by the minute.
Her every smile filled him with peace,her laughter tinkled like bells which he felt like listening to,again and again.
And he started doing things that he had never done for anyone before. He bought her bangles,arranged a play for her,took a day off to visit the doctor with her. Felt like being alone with her,racking his mind how to ask her out.
He started to feel nervous every time she came in front of him and felt short of words whenever she stood nearby.
And in just a moment,everything started to change.
