this is only favourable to producers and not to actors...sanaya didnt care abt money but abt other ppl who were getting low wages...one shudnt blame an actor for the quit...afterall they are also humanbeings not our entertaining live toy or producer's ragdoll...gunjan utreja's statement is 100% right...why cant we have series and seasons...so that many creatives and talents in the actors wud arise...

Well i find Gunjan's view quite sensible actually worth an applaud.👏.The success of the Pakistani Dramas like humsufer and well many more suggests that short spanned but well crafted dramas do have takers. Frankly speaking 3 years is a very long time frame when it comes to a telly actors career. Like someone pointed out you have to think of an actor's shelf life too.I suggest a maximum of 2 year contract period. Also we have to admit that its impossible for anyone to feel committed when its in a state of rut especially when its a job that demands your creative ingenuity to be flaunted. It refers to writers and actors equally. The practice of " seasons' gives the necessary meditative period for these artists.Well every one needs a detox period.

It is all in the plot holes, interlacing of parallel plots, show scope shifts or inappropriate scope usage, consistency, and drive for a business rather than a story. Keeping the actors tied to the show will only promote actors becoming director's pets and further degrade the quality of TV. The standard for about 20 months is probably for the best.

Now, season is not something that is necessary because there is a lot of leverage in the daily game as long as the set up is diligently crafted. Look at the start RR had and then immediately shot in the head. The issue is aimlessly dragging the story after its outset and failing to acknowledge what it was that is trying to be shown. No wonder they are dependent on a fan-base. The audience will appreciate the numerous characters if you let them have room to grow into. Why do they accept the lead characters anyways when the show goes on air the first day?

Maybe shows need to take three to four week breaks every three months and work in tandem with a limited series to give some forced gap in the story. That way the change in production is accelerated.

Well they also should have a clause that agrees to pay the actor the salary for 3 yrs if they are signing the contract to work for 3 yrs!
That is the only fair thing, cz as unfair as it is when actors leave the channels make shows go off air at the drop of a hat. So if the channel and PH can secure their side they better agree to give the 3 yrs of work for the actor if they are to sign the 3 yr clause! So that a show cannot go off air while the actor is signed on for 3yrs!!
Having said that.. sigh.. cannot help but selfishly wish this such thing was there 2yrs back when our hearts were ripped apart as the one show I have ever truly loved broke to pieces..

Only person who made complete sense was Gunjan! Which Sanaya has been lamenting n wishing herself for a while now that there be seasons and good content..

Ri, that last is impossible ... because of the wretched TRP system, which forces the channels and producers to tweak the shows depending on TRPs. TRPs kill creativity in India ... and the worst part is, they are unrepresentative of the actual audience.

I agree with what Gunjan Utreja says too, he makes the most sense. Have shorter shows, have bound scripts ... I would add, have bi or tri-weekly episodes, rather than five days a week, so that quality can be retained ... churning out five episodes a week for an indefinite number of years ... would make anybody go brain dead ... and the result is what we see on our screens.

On the other hand, producers have their own points too ... if they start recovering money only after the first year, they obviously would like the show to continue at least a couple of years. In recent years, the visibility and popularity of actors on TV has increased, they get noticed and obviously they want to make hay while the sun shines. which becomes a headache for the producers and channels ... especially since fans have become so vocal and abusive on social media.

Diya, I agree with you about TRPs killing the creativity. Have seen tons of good shows butchered for the sake of TRPs. Bound scripts worked for DD because it was the only entertainment channel around at the time. With a plethora of channels now, they need to work with TRPs. But I still have hope. All it needs is one channel to get the ball rolling. What channel would be ready to bite the bullet is the question?

Star One, when it started had weekly shows. This was in the time of Saas bahu shows from EK. Good quality shows, and the channel did experiment. Would they go back to it it again is highly doubtful. Shows 6 days a week which is completely absurd. They cannot dish out quality content in such a limited timeframe.

As it is, TV generally serves mediocrity at best.
Now even actors can't escape it if they want out.

Recipe for horrible shows.

Additionally, why should quitting be seen this negatively? If one is on a desk job, and if they aren't happy with their work profile, or they get a better offer that pays more- don't they switch jobs? Yes viewers' expectations and emotions are tied to actors. That doesn't mean the actors must be bound by such considerations. Different parameters are applicable to actors and an average person doing their jobs, and that is unacceptable.

If sudden quitting is an issue, they might want to increase the notice period- take it to 6 months, if you will. That gives the makers sufficient time to wrap up the plot, or come up with creative alternatives. This isn't a very just move.

They did try the bound script... limited episodes concept with Tumhari Paakhi. But as always, money talks. The show received a lot of goodwill, and was somewhat successful. Now with the extension, they ended up negating it all.

I agree with you about Bollywood. The early 90s were horrible with cookie cutter movies. Now with the 'multiplex movies', the quality and scripts have improved considerably.

I agree with both of you
This will empower the producers
Not many shows exceed 3 yrs , And over a span of.projects signing a contract is too much of a bargain
And it also reduces the bargaining power of the.actors , I think actors should have a say in shaping the character
Like many times are characters are very strong initially but is just reduced to complete side kicks for what ever reason
This will effect the actor playing the role any such contract will therefore completely take they bargaining power from the actor because it Is not possible to quantify the quality of a character
And this show base is flexibility
Saying that I don't think the major issue with this industry is actors or team.members leaving
I think the issue is taking it like a everyday daily wage job , rather than a creative product
The focus the makers actors technical team gives into the project is alarmingly low when compared to tele series industries elsewhere
That should change , if it is a good career why wouldn't actors stay ,?
This kind of.contract will lead to power concentration at the producer level will make the industry worse
About ipk makers made.the show completely concentrated on Arnav and KyushI , no side story , no other strong character so either of the lead leaving the show had to shut down
Sanaya stayed nice of her , Braun took a chance , had he not made it in the mainstream cinema if there was a threat that t the tv producers will not offer him a sustainable role he would have taken sush a big risk
