I agree with the last reply.Mutual consent of actors and producers is must.I understand the tough time producers face but 3 years is a quite long period .

I loved this point šŸ˜›

Why can't we have good content?
Gunjan Utreja says, "The fact that both the parties have agreed on 'something' is worth applauding. In my view, it's not this issue which needed to be addressed. Why can't we address the issue of storylines changing abruptly? Look at western shows. I have never seen a show like Modern Family or any other show changing their storyline just because something in Boston Legal or any other show worked. All our shows here start with a bang promising to give something new, but within three months they all look the same. What's the point in running a show for six years without a break? Why can't we have seasons for every show? Why can't we put a maximum shelf life for a show? This way, more actors will get the opportunity to showcase their work. More production houses will get work. Actors will get an opportunity to rest. Creatives will get an opportunity to think fresh and come back with a new season. If we address the issue of content first, then I guess you won't even need any other clause to stop your actors from quitting. The Indian TV industry is a force to reckon with. We touch lives of millions of people across the globe in more than 120 countries. It's high time we start taking the content our shows seriously."

Thanks for sharing this Article...
My opinion is very neutral for this binding agreement...Its unfair for Producers when they worked very hard to become their show popular and actor decided to leave the show when it reaches quite on its height of popularity...a case like Ipk...i agree its unfair to suffer whole crew n cast just for one person... Actors should respect their profession...
but also i agree with all actors P.O.V... 3 years contract is quite long for an actor to bind with a single show..what if there is no scope in his/her character after 1/2 or 2 years...i think 1/2 or 2 years contract is sufficient for both Actors and Producers...even audience cant stand with some saas bahu typical shows for so long...a Show has its full charm in its very one or maximum 2 years of starting..after that it became just like a dragging track for some TRP or perhaps just for its popular jodi which fans want to see together..Bass...in my P.O.V it is better to cast the same Jodi in another show with fresh Story rather than dragging a show just like that...
An actor has their personal life...as Monaya fan i simply respect their personal life affairs too...I 100 % agree with Sanaya's statement that she will do the show till the time show and her character make her happy if it does not she will leave the show...luckily her shows and her characters always been good and she successfully go on with her all shows till end...but its all depends on destiny..nor all actors got satisfaction with their characters.. just like happened with Mohit sehgal in case of Kahamoshiyan...so it dint mean that he will continue with the show till end if its character is continuously neglected in the show...
so actors and Producers both should understand each other problem...2 years contract is sufficient ...or else i say 2 years duration is maximum for a show itself to keep its audience happy 😳

I don't like the MoU. Three years is a long time. Honestly i think 2 years is quite enough to give a good story a deserving end. May be we don't know the entire content of the MoU, but whatever is out seems to be in favour of producers and channels, instead of actors. Discipline should be there from both sides, not just actors. If they were promised a certain story and a character growth in the beginning, and if the channel changes the story midway and butcher the character for TRPs, then its natural actors feel the need to quit.

** Edited the unrelated part. But my view stands.

I heard barun signed the contract for an year but he extended the contract for another 6 months. and still people dragging him?. what nonsense. 😔

Not only the actors every profession people quit/change their jobs when they find greater oppurtunity for advancement. its quiet natural. then stop blaming the actors. Actors should always try new characters. i really wonder how few actors are able to do the same role for years 🤢. (obviously they have no other choice) But signing a contract for 3 years is too much. can a producer guarantee a show for three years? when the trp goes down they will shut the show. will they pay the actors for 3 years?

Lovely. What an absurd rule. As though content on TV wasn't silly enough, now the actors will be coerced into staying with a show for 3 years and we can all look forward to shows that will go from bad to worse with actors who cannot quit no matter what.
What a genius move.
If there was a sure shot way to kill whatever little creativity that exists on desi TV, this must be it.
The Lord alone knows how CINTAA agreed to this. As we've seen time and again, money speaks louder than anything else.

And while Mr Utreja's statement may have originated from dissatisfaction with how his previous show treated him, he makes a lot of sense.
This MoU, as outlined by this article, doesn't seem to have ANY benefits for the actors.

i also think that 3 yrs is too long.

no one can guarantee if a show can lasts that long,
since everyone is so hooked up on this darn thing called the trp.

This topic will remain open if members can stick to the topic and we have mentioned so many times before not to bring in actors who are not part of the show or forum. Repeating it will lead to the topic getting closed and action taken against those indulged in such discussions.

Completely agree with Gunjan Uttreja here. We need the concepts of seasons. The PHs constantly switch tracks for better TRPs. Why can they not have a bound script, with a set time frame? The DD concept... though not limited to just 13 episodes. Sadly, the popularity of a show is India is gauged by the number of years it is on air, and not the quality. Apart from the usual 'Bollywood dreams', the reason most actors quit is because the role does not progress the way they were initially signed up for. Get a bound script, get the channel to agree to air the show irrespective of the TRPs. Pipe dream... maybe. But not entirely impossible.

As for those with 'Bollywood dreams' who treat their roles as a launchpad, perhaps the rule is justified. The PHs also need to secure their investments.

Ri, that last is impossible ... because of the wretched TRP system, which forces the channels and producers to tweak the shows depending on TRPs. TRPs kill creativity in India ... and the worst part is, they are unrepresentative of the actual audience.

I agree with what Gunjan Utreja says too, he makes the most sense. Have shorter shows, have bound scripts ... I would add, have bi or tri-weekly episodes, rather than five days a week, so that quality can be retained ... churning out five episodes a week for an indefinite number of years ... would make anybody go brain dead ... and the result is what we see on our screens.

On the other hand, producers have their own points too ... if they start recovering money only after the first year, they obviously would like the show to continue at least a couple of years. In recent years, the visibility and popularity of actors on TV has increased, they get noticed and obviously they want to make hay while the sun shines. which becomes a headache for the producers and channels ... especially since fans have become so vocal and abusive on social media.

I remember that ... she spoke sense ... but people around had completely lost their senses at that time. But she was speaking about something different ... about the calls by the fans for shutting the show ... She brought up the same point though ... that the show suffers, the livelihoods of people suffer.

How many people in this world care for others,
She did and was bashed for that instead of being appreciated
