In the Uk every single television os digitized. So there are no problems whatsoever with ratings. I dont understand how the Indian TV ratings work. For a fact I know that shows like Beintahaan, RR, Ek Boond Ishq are very popular among the young audience. But the ratings dont reflect that.

The sad part is that TRPs are really not good representation of what people actually want. If they were, so many hatke out of the box movies wouldn't be doing so well, and huge masala films wouldn't be flopping.

Read in the paper today that only two films are certified hits this year ... QUEEN and RAGINI MMS. All the big films with nonsensical plots or poor storytelling have flopped. Yet nonsensical saas bahu shows go on for years and years because of TRPs which represent less than 0.01% of the audience, or even less.

that is my point too , just because the show is different doesnt mean it will not get viewers , it just means it will take time to gather viewers

tv is watched by every body , and preferences are changing

just that you have to take a leap of faith , in the 1st place they dared to come up with something different then let it stay that way

but i agree with NB , the show is a combined effort of 3 different houses , each of these parties have a different interest

more than competition , i see risk mitigation as a bigger problem in this industry , each of these parties , i mean makers , channel , production house , creative team have multiple project going on , so that if one doesnt work they concentrate on other

so project like these which canpotential blockbusters get sidelined due to the initial slow start

saas bahu i think it has reached its maturity stage , decline stage is about to begin

just for a simple reason ,there are too many

as far as i know trp/tvm is not the only criteria channel use to gauge popularity , it is more popular with the makers

it is like a thumb rule , not accurate but can be used

like beintahaa is taken as a hit by the channel but doesnt really have good trps
