Mala leaving the haveli is not tied to the Thakur. As such, below are some of my thoughts on what could have prompted such a soft spoken and caring person to leave her son, husband and family. Forum seemed slow - so posting đ
1. Back story with Paro's mother - remember Paro's mother and father were travelling back to Birpur in a bus at approximately the same time Mala left her home.
I wonder if Mala and Paro's mom were good friends/cousins? Her attachment to Paro goes beyond the Thakur-subjects relationship. Maybe Paro's mom was sick or maybe her death is what prompted Mala to leave the haveli to settle things for Paro and it was Mohini who made it a mis-understanding by not communicating the real reason Mala left. By the time Mala came back - maybe Dilsher and Rudra had left for Jaipur and Mala did not know where they had gone - so she went back to Birpur and met Thakur there while being Paro's Mamisa's guest and was persuaded to marry him.
There is also definitely more to the bus blast story than meets the eye - I dont think it was simply done to put fear of BSD folks in the Birpur villagers minds.
2. Was Dilsher an unbearable husband - too overbearing. Maybe Rudra inherits his possessive traits and Mala could not take it anymore.
Other thoughts anyone?
