Its starting to show, more forcefully, more uncontrollably, with every new development. His obsession is coming out in the open. We always knew he had the potential to be an extremely possessive lover. And the suffocation gradually starts.
Territorial to the extreme, today saw Rudra in a highly protective zone. His single minded obsession with Paro was for all to see. Unusual in such rural backgrounds for a man to refuse to let go of his fiance. It only invites snide remarks and ridicule. It gets difficult for any man to be the object of such gossip. It damages his dignity, his pride and more importantly his super colossal male ego. Yet Rudra cares a damn!! The people, the society, can go take a hike or better still jump in the lake, the loner at heart has never cared about the norms of the world and never will. His object ...Paro, and her safety.
Yes, he has justified his stance to himself. She is crucial to him and his career, now more so, than ever. Yet, we can sense his obsession for her growing above and beyond the call of duty. There will be a day when the reason disappears, will his stifling grip loosen then? Wonder how he will face his craze for Paro, once this excuse is out of the way? What happens the day he realizes that his feelings were independent, were not because of, but in spite of the circumstances. How will this heartless man, face the truth, that his heart beats for one. That his obsession for her does not end with a case, but will end with his life. He is one of those who love with everything they have and if it doesn't work out, they lose all, even their lives.
I desperately want to see his behavior with Paro once she is not a witness but just a common girl. I want to see how it changes the dynamics, the equation between them. Something tells me he might actually get worse and not better. And I fear that...Or he might tame his rough edges the moment he realizes it grates on her sensibilities...if only...We all need to see a clearer picture, their relationship without this pretext.
Coming back to today, obsessed he is. There can be no other word for his restlessness before she entered. He had no cause to worry for her safety then, yet his eyes couldn't rest. His heart couldn't wait, he was on tenterhooks. Where was she?? Where...I need to see her, meet her. His impatience, his anxiety speaking volumes where silence reigns. And the moment he sees her...Paro, he is at rest. His soul, his heart, his whole being finally gets peace. He breathes a sigh of relief. She is here, in front of my eyes, right next to me, and its alright. There were moments when he should have been focused on what was happening around him and only throwing glances at her when needed, instead he couldn't take his eyes off her, only hurriedly glancing away to ensure the lack of danger. He notices everything about her, every breath, every blink, every twitch, every turn...nothing can escape him.
Is this separation anxiety one more legacy his absconding mother left for him?? This fear, this insecurity, doesn't it stem from a loss he could never recover from?? His possession and obsession a by product of being abandoned by one and all?? Yes, it is and the more deeply and intensely he falls in love with Paro, it will only get worse. He is not yet in love, but the moment he is...all doors will be closed on Paro. The more he loves, the more he fears and the more he tightens his grip.
Territorial, obsessive, possessive, suffocating...he is all of that already and it can only get worse, but the million dollar question here...Can his love, caring, passion, selflessness, understanding, tender concern...balance the equation?? He has lots of negatives, but can his positives outweigh them?? Will he learn to conquer these strong dark passions and rid himself of this malaise or will these shadows engulf him beyond redemption?? Only time will tell...
