well usually all of them r needed. BUT in a religious sense an opening of a wrath kept by a girl by some single guy in special occasions like Teej, Karwachauth will also symbolize it.., there r loads more they can show..
None of these would be legally binding. But in a religious sense unknowing to anyone the jodi would be bound for life..
Ex: in movie Parineeta it just required the groom to tie a single thread around the bride's neck at one very powerful auspicious occasion.
