How soothing, how soul quenching does it feel to meet an old familiar friend in alien surroundings!! A friend is always a welcome respite but how much do you value one when there is no one, literally no one, you can turn to?
Just a piece of glass, and that too imperfect. It flashes distorted images. It reflects aberrations. Yet, it is priceless!! Cause that good for nothing mirror brings a beautiful smile on a ravaged face, a beacon of light in the darkness of depression. It lights up a tiny candle of hope in the eye of a storm. It acts as a true friend, a friend that stands with you, through thick and thin. A true buddy that does not forsake you at your most trying time.
The mirror essentially is Paro's best friend, the only friend she has right now. Its shiny surface, the only thing that brings some joy to her barren world. Her face lights up, her heart momentarily forgets the endless pain. It's uneven faade the sole reminder that she too had a past, a face, a name, an entity, before she lost it all. A long lost familiar friend, that has some beautiful memories, some wonderful moments captured in its depths. A friend she had lost touch with, but who turned up, at a moment when she needed a companion, the most. The faithful loyalist who still remains by her side, not ready to forsake her. The sole partner that can touch her innocent heart and force her to smile, keeping her human, in spite of everything.
A beautiful friendship indeed!!
