Beneath the wrapper the package : i.e the content, the story and to some what the acting seems hollow.
You have judged the content, story and the acting in 3 days?Contrary to what is being said, if you can see the show objectively the show is glamorized too much to hide the very apparent weakness.
Rudra the trigger happy BSD Major hasn't done much other than "stylishly" remove his sunglasses and shooting a few people in the gory blood spewing action scenes.
And in one episode, what would you have him do? And do try to remember that he is sharing the screen space with others.
Ashish the actor is definetly under-used here. Also, such scenes don't look needed and it's seems the CV's are doing it just to show the toughness of the character.
Oh, and you have a better way of telling how to make a character look tough?I mean better than the writer him/herself, who has a certain idea in his/her mind? For his/her story?
Back at Birpur the entire main cast , including sanaya , are trying hard but do not appear to bring authenticity/convincement in their rajasthani avatar. Dialects and pronunciation do no need major improvement.
This is of course, a matter of opinion. And you are entitled to have yours, albeit being the only one to think so.
This is obviously tough for sanaya , as she has done very easy, run-of-the mill, roles till now...which didn't require much out of her as an actor but this is different and she has to do more than look fragile and cute.
Umm... exactly which character are you referring to that did not require more of her than just look fragile and cute. I have only watched IPK and if you are referring to her portrayal of Kushi as run of the mill, easy and not requiring much, than you have probably not watched the same show as I did. Since the portrayal of Kushi required a myriad of emotions, simultaneously expressive dialogue and a character that although at times seemed far fetched was carried out impeccably by Sanaya. In fact, I would even venture to bet, that there might not exist an Indian actor out there, who would be prepared to do what Sanaya did for her portrayal of Kushi. Although, I do agree with you, the script of IPK, for the character of Kushi, after Jan 2012, sucked! But that's one for the CVs.The character of Kushi is as different from Paro as chalk is to cheese.
The scene where the snake chooses the milk-container to decide it is paro whose getting married is typical of colors to show how indians are still backward and superstitious.
Initially, I thought so, as well, however, my ignorance was soon replaced by admiration at the way the reality of circumstances was shown. That is, the depiction of the hapless female, in today's world of the information age, where there are some people who still live in the centuries old traditions. These are rituals that are steeped in their beliefs and rather than generalizing, we need to tolerate them for what they are. A way of life for some, perhaps not as fortunate as we are. (Or perhaps we like to think that we are!) Having said that, however, do try to remember, that at the end of the day, this is still a fiction. And it is the writer's prerogative, to manipulate reality to suit the circumstances to relate to his/her story. It is neither enforceable nor incumbent on the spectator.
Other than that it is a typical village setting with a thakur, the ruler of land and his poor people who treat him as god and local silly superstitions we have seen plenty of times before.
It would seem like that if you look at it on the onset, however, I would be cautious to make a judgement like that in three episodes.
It's still early days but it seems it is headed for the obvious...normal love story with a rajasthani background and a mis-leading opening month of "difference"
Like you said, it's still early days. Ideas of normal love stories differ with each person.
It sounds hollow to make a judgement on a show based only on three episodes. It shows lack of intelligence, in spite of the long winded argument!
