Vasant Vihar
She stood in the balcony sipping her second chai. She woke at 4 made a huge meal as Dadi had taught her, showered, did her pooja and ate some and packed the rest away
Her FIL slept in her husband's room, he had come by yesterday to "finalize" some property deal he said. The lawyer Nishant Sehgal visited also, to talk about making a case against her landlord.
She dissuaded them as much as she could, but to no avail.
She was not sure what could be achieved.
She had already brought a lot of embarrassment to her Bai and aada by walking out on her marriage after 8 months.
They were expected to come by next week for a couple days, on their way to Ranchi to her Maasi's house.
Her husband...
Was in Mumbai...
Since Tuesday morning...
In a bout of frustration she had actually articulated her anguish by saying "Aapko meri bilkul fikar nahi hai"
A first for her!
She was extremely wary of him finding out how much she craved for him.
But soon after making out on the swing, swept away in passion, soaring high some place delightful and langorous she had blurted it out...
He lay by her, letting the swing go back and forth... her skinny white tee lay on the patio floor on the foot mat... she was snuggling under his tee...
His toes were annoying her...
"Woh baat to hai" he had admitted chuckling
"Thats OK, I am just a room mate"
"Khanak I am thoroughly enjoying this weekend"
"Liar!"
"I even watched 15 minutes of the Ranbir movie"
"I am going to run away with him"
"Go with me to Mumbai"
"Kyon?"
His hand was on the waistband of her jeans...
"Dont you know why?"
"I constantly fool myself into believing its great between us"
"We are SO GOOD together"
"No! I did not mean that way" (hot and bothered)
"I have my eyes on the SVP role. Ive got to get it"
"Do you ever have your eyes... (on me?)
What?
"Never mind"
"You love your job more than anything"
"Thats partially true"
She lets out a long painful breath
"Aapko bacha nahi chahiye, aapko din mein 20 ghante kaam karna hai, aap apne kaam ke aage kuch nahi sochte"
He is silent, guilty may be?
Its his turn to ask some bitter questions
"Are you in debt?"
She stiffens immediately
"Aapko (kaise maloom) kisne kaha?"
"Just curious!" looks at her deeply to detect an admission
Ofcourse it doesnt come
"Nahi, woh Dadi ke operation ke liye"
"Did you borrow?"
"I am not sure why you are curious
He sits up...
"You are the nurturer, provider, savior, first and last line of support" (declaration)
"I love them a lot"
"Enough to be in debt all the time"
"Aapko kisi wealthy, educated Punjabi se shaadi karni thi, she may not have brought suitcases filled with bills. She would have spoken in Punjabi in bed..." (husky)
He leans on the rail, arms crossed across his chest...
"Thats hould have taken care of everything. Why didnt I think of that?"😡
