We catch up with the handsome actor about his next show, insecurities of an actor and also unearth his plans for the future.

Post wrap up, how would you sum up the Odhani experience?

I was happy that I got such a wonderful role to play in my second show which made me popular among the audiences. I am also glad that Odhani completed more than 300 episodes in such times when there is tough competition on TV. I feel if the channel didn't have plans to revamp then perhaps our show would have continued for a longer duration. At the same time, I am sad that my fans won't see Shaan and Khanak anymore.

Do you feel once a show wraps up, actors go through a phase of uncertainty and insecurity regarding work?

Some feel so, others don't. It depends on the actor's luck and what kind of job or role he or she is looking for. Sometimes there is a phase where you feel uncertain regarding the work you get, you wonder if you will love the character or not, if the show will be according to your terms. You might want a certain role and be offered something different so mostly that makes you worry about the future.

How do you deal with insecurity?

Again, it is not a case of insecurity but uncertainty of getting or waiting for the perfect role. When you have to wait and watch for that perfect role, which might come to you in a month or six months, one must be very patient and not lose confidence in themselves and their work. Best way to deal with the break is to go on a vacation.

What do you plan to do during this break?

I have decided to utilize this break in a good way by taking up some courses. I want to brush up on my skills so I am thinking about taking up diction courses especially to improve my Hindi. It is very important for every budding actor and helpful in your job. This way I will also be in touch with the folks in the industry. But before I start, I will do some river rafting near Kudal, in Konkan, Maharashtra for two nights. This would be my first river rafting experience ever.

What kind of role do you want to do next?

Just a good role which satisfies me as an actor. I would prefer to go with my romantic image and so I would prefer a romantic role which will be loved by my fans.

What are you most passionate about?

I am very much passionate about my work, especially working on my lines which I rehearse in front of the mirror. Apart from work, I am very much passionate about watching movies on DVD's. Now that I am free, I watched Ishqiya, the Twilight series in past few days. And am planning to watch Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.

Tell us about an interesting incident with a fan.

I remember when I was doing Odhani, I met some five-six college girls who came on the sets just to meet me. They were standing outside the set for almost one and half hour just to meet Shantanu and Khanak. That was a touching gesture by fans who love their favourite characters so much.

Whom are you closest to - family or friends?

I am a very family-oriented person and I am close to my elder sister and my parents. I share everything with them. While in the industry, I am in touch with Dashank and Gaurav Khanna from my earlier show, and Jas Karan Singh. We all hang out in each other's houses often.

What is your idea of romance? What is your dream girl like?

For me, romance is not having a candlelight dinner but it is romantic when you have a good conversation with your date. Of course, candlelight dinner with wine and chocolates is a perfect setting. My girl should have a great sense of humour and good communication skills. I just want a girl who is sensible and attractive not just in looks but in her behaviour too.
