They are all seated in the rec room. The husband is missing though. She wonders where we went. HL brings her afternoon meds. Ritu notices how her friend is totally unmindful of her sorroundings. She has no concern who her MIL brought for lunch. When her MIL barely introed her to Khanak and quickly whisked them away to show them some "project" she was working on in her study, Khanak didn't mind at all.
On the other hand Khanak's eyes involuntarily followed her husband's. When they were done eating and he stepped out for a while her eyes followed him to the front door, hoping he would turn around and look before he left, but he hadn't.😳
He was on the phone most times, Ritu noticed, when he was he usually kept track of what his wife was doing.😳
They had a great non verbal non vocal symphony going at home.
Dadi: khanak, neend aa rahi hai to so jao beta?
Khanak: Nahi Dadi I want to chat with Ritu (whines)
Aada and Fa are reclining as much as possible on the couch. Sunil is getting ready to leave. There is chilled mango and strawberry shakes to go around.
Ritu tries both. Khanak can only get a lukewarm one, she makes a face but drinks it all creating a mango moustache. She she sends her lower lip to clean it up, her husband walks in, she quickly grabs a tissue and dabs it off.
He walks over to where she is and seats himself by her. He is wearing another UMASS tee and another pair of watered down olive green shorts. He picks up her dupatta and rolls it to make room and sits down, it lays on his thigh.
A quick whiff of Armani floats the air as he sits down. There is barely enough room for him, Khanak gently lifts her shoulder and makes room for him, he settles in and she gently lets her left shoulder rest on his at first, then withdraws, he slides closer, so even if she went back to "her" portion of the backrest she would collide with him''.
Khanak thinks" Oh please! Juvenile tactics?"
His response in thought ofcourse "Oh! Well! if you don't appreciate a mature approach, I will have to resort to this silliness"
She "Well I am not going to lean back!"
Him: "Good luck!"
Her: Hmmpphhh!
Dadi senses the under currents but chooses to carry on a conversation instead
Dadi: What happened?
Shaan: he didn't show up Dadi! (sulks)
Dadi: is it raining again?
Shaan: Yep! Pouring!
Dadi: Ahmedabad mein bahut baarish hoti hai kya beta?
Khanak: Its very hot Dadi, that's all I remember (pout)
Dadi smiles.
Sonali: Aap sabko chalna chahiye Dadi (looking pointedly at the guy she has a crush on)
Dadi: Zaroor beta!
Dadi: Tumhara admission kis din hai?
Sonali is least bothered, she has changed after lunch ad done something with her hair
Ritu noticed too, but doesn't say anything. Khanak and her are reviewing a paper catalog of the movies.
Khanak flips back and forth.
Ritu: Its missing! Kitne baar dekhegi?
Khanak: Hmmm
Dadi: kya hua beta?
Khanak: Dadi L is missing after K''.
Dadi: I never noticed. The kids were going back and forth with the binder (Ujju ray, Akhil and akash)
Khanak: khain gir gaya hoga?
Dadi: I don't think so''..
Shaan: or it never got cataloged.
Ritu: Who did this?
Khanak: Bhabhi!
Shaan: Some guy that works for Dad Ritu, working in tandem with Bhabhi!
Ritu notices how both their answers happened at the same moment.
Ritu: How do you know?
Dadi is talking to a departing Sunil
Khanak: Ummm''
("Oh! Gosh! He shared it with me when I visited before the wedding, before the engagement😲😆)
Shaan: She came from work one nite and were eating in this room I think
Ritu looks at her like "Great! MYSTERY! Mujhe kab bataane waali thi"
Khanak thinks "I will have to kill this guy!"
Khanak: Did you pick a movie?
Sunil: Chalo I am off I have a 5, 5:30 and a 7 tonite.
He walks over to Khanak and bends down and kisses her on top of her head
Sunil: Take care beta!
HL walks in with yet another snack
Sunil: HL, inka dhyaan rakho bhai (curt)
HL: Jee Sir! (grins)
Sunil: Ma aap bhi.
Dadi: Uske hubby ko bolo.
Sunil: Hubby might bail, if a manufactured catastrophe happens at work (softly)
Shaan: HA! you are funny dad!
Sunil: Only your wife doesn't think that!
Ritu is picking out a movie.
Sonali seats herself by Khanak on the 3 seater. She reaches for Shaan's phone from the coffee table
Sonu: IPHONE? Di aapke paas bhi hai na?
Khanak: Hmmm (looks at her with a "Put it away" look)
Shaan is on the ipad now. He logs on and goes to YT and plays a video, puts it in front of his wife's eyes.
Its some college/dating prank video that a UMASS friend shot years ago, his friend sent to him from Dartmouth this morning.
Khanak looks at him before she looks at the video, she signals her with her eyes to watch. She does its less than 3 minutes.
At the end she goes back to sulking with a "not funny!"
sHAAN: Well I will let Jason know that!
Khanak: I mean it! (fiercely)
Shaan: I do too!
Hubby and wife share a private moment in the room.
Fa and Aada look like they might be ready for a nap. Dadi is on the phone.
SonalI: Jeej! Please mujhe bhi dikhayiye na!
He looks at Khanak to check if the R rated thing is OK.
She does a FURIOUS No! with her head and eyes.
KhanaK: Go pick a movie Sonu!😡
Sonu: Nahi I want to see the video😭
She is still holding her hubby's phone
Shaan: OK then! (shaan smiles at Sonali and plays it)
Khanak: You guys should watch it together! (blistering)😡
Gets up from the center and walks over to her Aada.
Her husband lets Sonali hold the ipad and watches his wife with a grin instead!
