Dadi ma, please do we need to do this in such a way? Can't I just do it on my own in the Bath room without all these posters staring at me? It's very embarrassing, I feel like a girl!
Dadi ma laughed shaking her head,! Mere laal, this is the punishment for wanting to get married! If my Khanak can go through this, so can you! She said applying the haldi paste to Shaan's arms.
Is she really?(He said looking interested.)
Of course idiot! Kya hua? What are you thinking, something hanky panky? Said Mami Chin chin chu waggling her eyebrows, while Kash giggled standing behind her, and Jay glared frowned.
Shaan! This is just crap man! I'll never tolerate this. I'd elope instead!
J! If your love is true you'd be willing to do anything for it, isn't it Shaan?Said Misha, smiling as she applied the paste to his legs.
Shaan nodded wryly, his love was really being put to the test. Anyway he had to go through this only once in a lifetime.
Megha couldn't resist and took some paste and put it on his nose. There chachu now looks like a clown! She said and everyone laughed.
Come on here Shaan, get in! Mads said as she poured the water from the decorated pitcher, (The Ghadoli,) which had been brought from the temple to his bath water.
Shaan stepped in and jumped right out again! Wow the water is so cold! Looks like someone has added ice to it! Who is that idiot? I can't bathe here!
Not me, said Akki shrugging his shoulders and patting Shaan's back, but unfortunately you have to wash in it bro! Coz nobody is going to go to the temple again.
Shaan glared at him, So is this your revenge for the past? I'll see you Akki!
Kash quipped, no don't do anything to my Jiju, he's as innocent as can be. It was Pooja di who put the ice in. Squarely putting the blame on the only one who wasn't present to defend herself.

Khanak' s Haldi/ Pithi Dastoor:
Khanak smiled shyly as she was made to sit under the canopy of silk supported at each end by a woman holding a sword in her hand, who belonged to her clan. One of them was her dad's younger sister from Jaipur, Kari's mother while the others were distant relatives who had all come for the wedding. They were all gazing and smiling at her with kindness in their eyes. She smiled back, tremendously grateful for their presence, that even though she didn't recall meeting them before, they had taken the time to be there to bless her and be a support to her family. She realized the reason now, why her mother always used to stress on the importance of cultivating and maintaining relationships.
Each of them starting with her mom applied the yellow paste of haldi and chandan (turmeric and sandalwood,) to her face and body. She had worn an orange colored simple dress for the occasion.
While her mom carried on solemnly, her friends and younger relatives wouldn't leave her alone as they applied the paste one by one to her.
Do you know the reason for this ritual? Asked Kari.
No Kari, why? Asked back Rosh innocently.
Hahhaha, it is to make our Deeds skin glow and make her look much prettier and attractive to Shaan Jiju, than she is already.
If she glows any more, she will start shining like a light bulb, said Shri which had everybody in splits and Khanak too couldn't help but laugh as well.
Imagine Shaan jiju being blinded by her beauty, then he'll spend all of suhaag raat searching for her, what Khanak? Priya said winking at her.
Girls, now if this continues then we don't need to put any rouge on her cheeks. Stop it! Lets enjoy the music.
Woman who were professional dholak and nagada players played festive music while all the girls danced.
