PART 54 c

Mangal Kunj, Malabar Hill

May 3^rd 8 PM.

Khanak hiding in his neck "Who makes out during a cold?"

Shaan: We do! (finger and thumb on her earring)

Khanak: (tickled by his fingers, squirming)I had no idea you even noticed such things about me! (shy)

Shaan: You have no idea, in general (laughs into her neck)

Khanak: girls that are engaged at work talk about all sorts of things. Your hands don't even touch me!!

Shaan: we are too busy fighting.(groans)

Khanak: Shantanu... I have to go! (plea)

Unmindful of her plea, he inhales her neck.

Shaan: Whats with that high braid?

Khanak: all the hair was making my face itchy.

Shaan: well... I wont complain, I love your neck!

Knock on the door!

He allows her a few minutes to sit up. Gives her a hand... pulling her up from the arm rest. They exchange one last look, before he goes off to open the door.

She sits back cuddling Calvin again.

Hari Lal wheels the food in, Shaan is by the sound system.

She notices some covered bowls and a basket with a towel on it.

She looks up at him, he urges her to open and check the food out.

Hari Lal waits... Shaan" Aap jayiye, hum thodi der mein khaayenge. Thanks Hari Lal"

He smiles at Khanak and leaves. Something tells him, she will be a pleasant addition to the house.

He wonders why the new Bhabhiji does nt talk much.

Khanak gently unwraps the basket, its filled with two kinds of bread. There are two kinds of soups to go with in the bowls.

Khanak's tummy, acknowledges the scent. "If this how they eat everyday, Dadi has nothing to fear about my weight"

She wonders if one of the soup is not veggie. She stirs it with a spoon.

Shaan: Both are veggie Khanak! (indulgently)

She smiles at the bowl, embarrassed.

They are back to exchanging barely a sentence.

Khanak: ghar pe banaya?

Shaan: No! I don't think so, there is a Belgian bread store that opened near Gateway recently. Have you heard of it? "La Pain Qoutidien"?

Khanak shakes her head in negative.

Shaan: Dadi must have sent him out to get it! (smiles)

Khanak: wont you eat?

Shaan: Why don't you start?

She is reluctant

Shaan: You cant be quiet and shy the rest of your life you know Khanak! You dont talk except when we are fighting! (wryly)

Khanak: Umm...I...

Shaan: Around here, people eat when they are hungry. Please eat.

He steps up and serves her some.

She sips, the area around her her lips sting on contact with the soup, she blushes and grabs some bread. Dabbing her lip with a white napkin gently...

Shaan: (smiles slowly) Relish... your meal Khanak! (lets her savor the soup and the exploits before that, privately)

😉Ohh! (gushing obvoiously). Loved this part Aditi. Loved the way you've described their reactions to each other. So natural and sizzling! Keep them coming. 😛

All I can do after reading this is...dedicate this song for SHANAK !
