Did you expect that Odhani would be such a hit on STAR One? Why do you think audiences love this show?
When you work for any project, you definitely want your work to be appreciated. Honestly speaking, I knew that the show would be well appreciated by the audiences.

Any special moment in the show, close to your heart?

There are a couple of scenes close to my heart, for obvious reasons. Like the first day on the sets of the show. It was the first day of our telecast and interaction with the cast members, so it was very special. I also hold the Saawariya song sequence very dear. It was special to me.

How is it working with Khanak aka Yashashri ? What do you like about her acting?
I like the way she works and her dedication. It can motivate anyone. The amount of effort she puts in a scene is commendable. She is very passionate about work and acting.

How is it working with the director, Swapna Joshi Waghmare?
It's superb to work with such a talented director. She always looks for some creativity in the scenes. Before a shot, she always says, 'Karan, surprise me,' which is a great way to motivate an actor.

Which would you say are your five best scenes?
The Saawariya sequence, the first meeting between Shaan and Khanak, Shantanu getting drunk after his marriage, the romantic song sequence Kuch Khas Hai, where Khanak and I had some 40 pages of dialogues. And lastly, I really enjoyed my scenes with Hiten Tejwani. My most favourite scene right now is the bath tub sequence.

Which song would you like to dedicate for the show on the completion of one year?
I would love to sing the award-winning title track of our show, sung by none other then Shankar Mahadevan. I really love the lyrics of the song.

What is the craziest thing done by a fan of yours?
Till now, no one has done any crazy thing for me, but my fans always do sweet things - like when I was admitted in hospital, many of them sent me bouquets of roses and 'Get Well Soon' cards. That was really sweet of them.

How did you celebrate the success of the show?
We cut a cake on the sets and got the cast and crew together for the same.

That he always runs after Khanak whenever she leaves him.

It was a wonderful experience. I learnt a lot about Khanak since Day One, and now, after a year, I feel like I have become Khanak Khandelwal completely!

Which Khanak do you prefer - the Dhulwadi Khanak or the Khandelwal bahu Khanak? Why?

I must say both, because of the costumes mainly, as they were completely different. Khanak's nature and care for the family doesn't change with appearance though.

What's the difference between Marathi TV and Hindi television?

I think both have similar working conditions, but Hindi television, of course, has a wider audience. There are lots of them, but one incident I really loved was when I was shooting with Karan and Priyanaka Chibber. I was waiting for my shot when Swapnaji said I have to shoot with a snake. I was so convinced that I kept searching for the snake in the studio, because I like snakes, and I wanted to be friendly with it before shooting. At the end of the day, I realized they were playing a prank on me.

Your fans have named you and Shantanu as Shanak and Yasharan. What's your take on it?

It's an amazing feeling when someone gives you a special name, because that shows their love for you.

Which was the most difficult scene? Why?

I think it would be the swimming pool sequence, where I fall into the water by accident. It was difficult because I am afraid of water and, moreover, we shot the scene on a chilly night.

Which is your most favourite romantic scene ?

I liked the paathshala scenes, in which Shan is teaching English to me. Moreover, any scene which has Shanak is always romantic.

Do you like your village look or the modern one? Why?

The modern look for sure, as I don't like dressing up much. Modern clothes are easy to wear and carry.

Did Karan give you any tips, since you were a newcomer in the show?

Yes, he gave me lots of advice. He keeps giving everyone some or the other gyaan. Everyone on the sets was very helpful.
