Nice topic there. I have been a silent reader on this forum and this topic definitely made me break the silence...i had to put in my two cents too! đ
The observation is very good, I agree completely. the sudden reference , and specific one at that to the peti uthana by Khanak was for me like bolt out of hte blue - for me it signified, that she was carrying a lot more than she can handle... although not very clear as to what it was, she was becoming aware of the burden and in that few moments that she was herself, she realized the weight of that burden... being with Shantanu, somehow eased that burden and only when he wasnt around, the burden made itself apparent, more real perhaps...
In literal sense - through their on road experience, she was too busy , fighting with him or following him or run away from him... and didnt realize she was lugging that peti around or that the peti was heavy at all... notice she doesnt even expect him to carry it for her... when he says uthao...
In a more well.. metaphorical sense - while her thoughts focused on him, she was more in touch with herself... 'Khanak' per se... and not Ada ki bahu or suraj ki widwaah...
I sure rambled there.. i hope i made some sense....
