Aspiring singer turns Lakshman
Ankit Arora landed in Mumbai from Nainital to become a singer but ended up becoming Lakshman in the new Ramayan. This is Ankit's first show and first ever interview!
The hunt for Lakshman
"The makers selected all three brothers but could not find Lakshman. A friend of mine told me to give auditions. I gave my look test and ended up being selected."
Preparing for the role
"I was quite nervous when they selected me because I was not sure of myself. I have seen the earlier Ramayan and I know it is very difficult to break the image of those actors as they had done a great job. Then I started reading Ramayan and gained confidence. Moreover my producer, co-actors and director sat with me and discussed things. Now I am receiving a good response so it feels great."
On Screen Off Screen
"I have changed a lot after playing this character. Earlier I used to be a very calm and patient guy. Now I have become so involved in this character that I have become short tempered like Lakshman. Whenever I go out I immediately pick up a fight. My parents and friends are also amazed with this change and are advising me to be calm."
Singing career?
"I have taken training in singing and Ravindra Jain is my guru. I wanted to become a singer but my friends told me to try my luck in modelling so I did photo sessions. Now I hardly get any time for riyaaz. But I am still learning music. Ravindraji is doing the music for this show. I have not had time to meet him yet but may be I can sing for this show itself. Right now I want to concentrate on my acting. Once this show gets over I want to cut my album."

"If you have faith if your talent it cannot bed hidden for long time."
