The episode starts with the Putrakameshti Yagna. The rishi's are chanting the mantra's and after a while a half god appears in the holy fire. King Dasarath tells the half god that he is honored with his appearance. The half god explains to Dasarath that he has come to give him the divine nectar. The nectar is made by the Ashwini Kumaras. He orders Dasarath to give it to his queens . He further says that the child he is doing the Yagna for will be his for sure. The king accepts the nectar and is grateful. The halfgod disappears and Dasarath and Kausalya seek the blessing of the rishi's.

Dasarath goes to his queens, and gives the first portion of the nectar to Kausalya and the second to Kaikeyi. Before eating the nectar Kaikeyi gives some of her nectar to Sumitra and Kausalya does the same.

Kaikeyi is running towards Manthara, saying that all the worries of the king will go away and that the family will get his successor. Manthara is quit and angry. Kaikeyi asks her what is wrong, why is Manthara so angry? Manthara answers that she is mad at Kaikeyi. She is mad because Kaikeyi is king Dasarath's favorite wife. But after the Yagna he gave the nectar to all three of his queens! He should have given it only to Kaikeyi, so that she could take all the advantage of the nectar. Only Kaikeyi should become pregnant, so that she could give birth to the one and only son. She would become Rajmata. Kaikeyi asks Manthara that she only wants what she wishes. And Kaikeyi wishes the same for Kausalya and Sumitra. Manthara walks away.

Kaikeyi is going to the other queens. She is hinding behind a curtain and calls: Maa! Kausalya and Sumitra are looking at each other and ask who is calling? Kaikeyi says: Me! Kauslaya asks: Me who? And Kaikeyi answers: Your son! They are all laughing and teasing Kaikeyi. Kaikeyi sits down and Manthara is eavesdropping. Kaikeyi asks what will happen if only one of us will get a son. Kausalya says that it will be a son with three mothers. It will make no difference who gives birth to the child, they will be all three the mother and they will take care of him together. Kaikeyi says that they will set a new tradition. They will share everything with each other and there will be no sautela ( second wife ) , and there will be no difference between the children.

Manthara walks away and is saying that Kaikeyi is nave for a sautela son can never be the same as an own son and it is all beautiful and full of morality, but in modern times she has to watch out for these things. She has to explain that to Kaikeyi.

Kausalya is lying on bed and the doctor says that there is good news: Kausalya is becoming a mother. The same for Sumitra. Manthara is running to Kaikeyi saying that the king has deceived Kaikeyi. Kausalya is pregnant and so is Sumitra. Kaikeyi says she is happy, because she is pregnant too. She is happy and bumps into the kings arms. The king expresses his happy feelings towards Kaikeyi. He was a husband, now he will become a father too.

Dasarath is walking in the hall with the statues of his ancestors. He announces that because of their blessings the successor is on his way. He asks for their blessings for the wellbeing of his child. They give their blessings.

The babyshower is going on and time goes by. Everyone, one heaven and earth is waiting for the birth of the children.

Kausalya is sleeping when Lord Vishnu appears before her. He says that in an earlier birth she asked him that she will get a son like HIM. And because there is no son like HIM, he will be her son. Kausalya is thankfull but asks for a gift. She wants a son who will make her happy. A son whom she can give all her motherly love to. Lord Vishnu gives his blessing.

A maid tells King Dasarath that Kausalya has give birth to a son. A second maid comes running and tells him that Sumitra has give birth to two children. Manthara tells the king that Kaikeyi has give birth to a very pretty boy. The king gives his pearls and jewels to the maids and Manthara. Everyone is happy and signing and dancing.

The name giving is going on. Vashist starts with the son of Kausalya. He is born at auspicious time and he will be important for all the people. He will be loved by everyone and he will take care of everyone. His name will be Ram.

Endscene: everyone chants Shri Ram's name.
