Hey guys,
Valmiki Ramayan does include Lakshman Rekha. It does not mention it in the Aranya Kand, but during Yudh Kand, Mandodari asks Ravan how he can hope to defeat Ram and Lakshman, when he could not even cross the line Lakshman drew to protect Sita.
So this incident is not mentioned in Aranya Kand, but a reference to Lakshman Rekha was mentioned in Valmiki Ramayana, only later on

Here's some interesting news for you all!

Lakshman rekha was shown on star news around a few years back..they showed Panchavati near nasik in maharashtra where there was a HUGE gap between two patches of land where water was flowing and they said that people beleived THAT was the 'lakshman rekha'. I do not know how true that is but it's interesting.😊

I had pasted in one of our AT, the pics of the place which is considered to be the place where lakshman drew the lakshman rekha...I will post it again if I get it.
The place right now has a bridge .lots of devotees visit that place

the Lakshman Bridge, believed to be the site of the legendary 'Lakshman Rekha' or the line that Lakshmana had drawn to protect Sita.
there is also a small shrine just next to the bridge. Here is a small idol of Sita, and just outside, a small figure of Ravana!
And a temple which has been built for Lakshmana, lauding his act of disfiguring Surpanakha
a house which is also said to be Rama'a ashram..
ancient banayan tree..
PLACE: NASHIK, MAHARASHTRA
