.andaman is also known as gandamadana hiils...in Skanda Puran, there is an episode of "Hanumath Kund" in Gandamadana Hills. These hills are also said to be a favorite spot of Lord Hanuman. In Hanumath Sahasranamavali it says "OM GANDAMADANA SAILASTHANAI NAMAHA". As per this Hanumath Kund episode, there is a description of how Gandamadana hills look.
As per the views of Prof. M A Padmanabha Rao (a researcher on ayurvedic medicine, AIIMS), the Andaman islands are more fitting here as per the below reasons.
1) It is said that these hills are in the southern sea and look like a bridge. And taking Andaman islands into consideration, it would seem fit here. In ancient times 'Aryavrata-the ancient name of India' was the region only uptil the central India that was inhabited. The region below was just thick forests not inhabited by humans. And Aryavrata extended uptil present day China and Afghan on the north east and north west sides. So the southern sea to it might most appropriately be the present Bay of Bengal. And Andamans are located in it and from above they do look like a bridge...
2) Andaman Islands have certain trees called "Guggul" which are very aromatic and were used for prayers. This supports the name for these hills "Gandamadan" which mean intoxicating with scent.
3) The very name Andaman seems to have been derived from Gandamadan...
G A N D A M A D A N
A N D A M A N
So probably the Andaman Islands were the Gandamadana mountains of the past.
as per local tales...it is said hanumanji and monkey ppl lived here and occassionally ram sita lakshman bharat and urmila paid visit here and the places were named after them
like there is sitpur bharatpur lakshmanpur...these are beaches in neil island
and there is one village urmilapur in andaman named after urmila devi...cool naa...ise kehte hai MAANO YAA NAA MAANO😎🤣
