Khan made his television debute in the 3rd season of Indian reality TV programme Bigg Boss[13], which is the Indian version of Celebrity Big Brother.[14] When asked by the host Amitabh Bachchan for his reason in joining the Bigg Boss cast, Khan said that he wanted the country to witness how a rich man like him would live in an environment where he had to cook and clean for himself.
He was nominated for eviction by his fellow housemates for the first, second and third week running. He survived the first week's eviction, which saw Jaya Sawant evicted and the second week's eviction which did not see any housemate evicted due to Diwali.[15]
Although he was already nominated for eviction for the third week consecutively, he eventually became the first celebrity to be prematurely ejected from the Big Boss house because of his violent behavior towards other house mates. Khan verbally abused Rohit Verma and threw a water bottle at him which hit Shamita Shetty, he also had an altercation with comedian Raju Srivastav. Khan was asked to leave the house that very night.[16]
On 19 November, Khan re-entered the Bigg Boss house with the help of a wild card entry.[17] His re-entry stint in the Bigg Boss house ended on Day 67 in Week 10 of the show.
Khan ran away from his home in Deoband to Mumbai in order to become a film hero, when that did not work out for him he started a garment and construction business. When his business flourished he decided to invest in films.[1]
In 2003, it was alleged that Khan and Mohammed Adil Farooq were responsible for threatening leading bollywood actors and a few junior artistes into signing a film being made by them.[2] They were allegedly acting on behalf of Abu Salem, Farooq was eventually arrested while Khan was let go.[18]
On the reality television show Bigg Boss Khan has made claims of being a multimillionaire who lives in a 21000 sq ft palace, gets his milk from Holland, water from France and tea from London. In an interview with tv channel Bindass, Khan claims that his export business turnover is in the tune of Rs.500 crores.[19]
On his return to the Big Boss house, Khan showed an image of Villa Bromilia[20], a property in the under construction Al Barari development near the Dubai International Airport and claimed that it belonged to him.[21] Al Barari, a Dubai based estate company is the property developer and owner of the still under construction villa.
