You are completely right about lack of respect for rural people (rather than just women), but it was not an issue of honour back then. Kshatriyas, by their nature, and their achievements, used to feel proud and used to be arrogant, but honour killings were not there. To accompany Krishna in his journey Later, Goddess Lakshmi took another eight forms, who were Radha herself. All of them weren't princesses either, Kalindi was river Yamuna, Satyabhama was Dwaraka treasurer Satrajit's daughter, Jambavathi was a bear princess, a vanvaasini. Krishna didn't lose his love, as when Uddhava visited Radha, Radha showed Krishna with herself, playing flute with his mischievous smile, and when he went back to Mathura, he can see Krishna there, in his princely attire completing his responsibilities.
