All bark, no bite
Some of TV'S most-hyped shows trip up when it comes to the TRP test
Alot of hype and prior promotion does not guarantee success, at least on TV. And with channels and producers giving a new show only two to three months to prove itself (they gauge audiences' reaction in this period), it puts the much-hyped shows on the spot. We look at shows that didn't work inspite of new concepts, massive promotions and star power.
Rab Se Sohna Isshq (Zee)
THE PROMISE: The megabudgeted show promised a cross-continental love story shot in London. It marked the return of Ashish Sharma, of Chandragupt Maurya fame.
WHAT WENT WRONG: The London locales are actually suburbs. The story moves slowly, and is reminiscent of films like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) and Namastey London (2007). With ratings of around 1.5, the show hasn't taken off. To be fair, this one's just a month old.
