|| Chapter One ||

"What is it with me? Why my life is like this? What am I going to do now? Why am I not confident enough like everyone around...?

A very familiar series of questions went on and on in her mind as she walked along the pavement... Her head hung down and she exhaled gripping her fingers around the bag strap over her shoulder... Her left hand reached to pull the hem of her mustard colored solid bell sleeved top she had paired with light blue ankle length jeans... Her hair tied in a ponytail behind while few loose strands fanned over her face.

"Everything is wrong with me! I am such an abnormal...but why? She whined mentally and stomped her feet while sitting on the nearby bench... A tassel bow over her black floater shoe flicked down making her whine more... She pressed her lips and reached for her left shoe, pulling out the bow on it too... A sigh let out as she stared at the bow in her hand for few moments... A wave of sadness hit her and she leaned back on the bench clutching the bow in her palm... Her eyes closed momentarily before a sudden gush of cool breeze startled her... Letting her gaze to wander around she breathed in the cool air... A light from the morning sun shone in her eyes as she stared in the sky...her eyes squinting in bright rays...

A clear and pleasant winter morning welcomed her with its glory and she felt a sudden pleasure washed over her pushing away all the dullness she was feeling... A smile made its way on her face that was shining in the warm sun light... It wasn't much noisy around and just across the road there was a park and the huge layer of colorful flowers held her attention... Her smile widened as a gentle breeze started whirling and she imagined those flowers getting shy with that gentle touch... Trees swayed to the rhythm of breeze making greenish, yellowish, brownish leaves shone in the sunlight and she felt like the whole aura was whispering her a good morning... "Wow!!! That's a pretty imagination Zoya! Praising her own self she got up and again started walking along the pavement now enjoying the pleasant morning...

"I should take this route daily As soon as the thought touched her mind a frown appeared on her face, "Umm! Getting up early in the morning is not my cup of tea She dismissed the plan and craned her neck to see the line of giant buildings... "If it wasn't Sara who called me in early hours informing the new trouble I have to face, I would have enjoyed my morning in my bed...and would have completed reading the two recent updates of The Brewers Girl'...' With that thought a wave of sadness touched her face again "I can't imagine how Kabir must be feeling...I can't see him suffer like this...he doesn't deserve it...Ohh!!! Poor soul is suffering...He is such a gem!!! An instant smile touched her lips as she mumbled Kabir Malhotra'

A ding of her phone brought her back from her dreamland and she sighed giving full stop to her thoughts before she would let herself lost in that certain Kabir Malhotra again who had topped the list of her fictional crush from the day she had started following a novel named The Brewers Girl on wattpad... Reading a message from Sara who asked her to hurry up she entered inside the gates and made her way towards one of the buildings, before answering the guard...

You all very well know why you are selected for this internship program but that is just a first hurdle you have passed as you all know achieving the main goal is the real challenge... You have to work hard and sharpen your skills in each level... And then at the end of the sixth month, only five candidates among you will be selected for the great package of another six month internship in Dubai, Singapore and Malaysia! That will definitely be a golden opportunity! And I am sure everyone here is willing to be the one of those five best candidates... You need not only hard work but smartness in your work, Self determination and focus is needed for your goal and you will be the winner!'

"Yes...I know I'll be the winner! His mind screamed in determination... Even though the music was buzzing in his ears through the headphones he couldn't ignore those words hovering in his mind... His gaze was focused ahead as he jogged with long strides in graceful pace... Dressed in alpine green sleeveless hoodie, showing off his muscular arms and long black joggers with black sneakers he was looking like the perfect athlete... With his incredibly powerful figure he was creating the breathtaking sight to watch for the female joggers around as they couldn't help but turn their heads to get a better view...

Morning breeze whipped his dark thick hair across his forehead and he exhaled halting in front of the park... His gaze hovered around as he stepped inside... A wave of displeasure visible on his face as he mumbled something while running fingers through his hair and with that movement muscles in his biceps bulged... "I knew it Throwing his head back he breathed... Sunlight shone soft on his face highlighting its features...his eyes squeezed... His straight nose like an aristocratic bridge, his sharp chiseled jaw-line like a perfectly crafted masterpiece... Giving a little shake to his head he opened his eyes... sunlight passed through his brown eyes making them shine... Fetching out a device from his armband he dialed a number, "Where the hell are you? His tone was loud enough to attract attention from the group of elderly people doing their yoga exercise... He glanced at them apologetically before disconnecting the call and resumed his jog...

It was his fifth lap around the huge park when the beep of his phone stopped him... "Such an asshole Cursing the caller he jogged back towards the gate not answering the call...

"Hey...Asad A guy similar to his height and age, dressed in grey crew neck sweater and blue denim, waved looking at him... "I knew it...you would use the time for the betterment of your body... That guy grinned walking towards him... "I really have a doubt... He said in a hushed tone, "You must have secretly enjoying all the admiration, isn't it? He raised his brows as he asked, tongue in cheek...

"You better shut your mouth or I'll kill you Shaad Asad growled removing headphones from his ears... fetching out the mobile from armband he sat on the nearby bench... His breathing heavy as he leaned back, stretching his legs...

"Okay, okay! I know how irritating you feel it but seriously you should... Before he complete his sentence Asad's glare stopped him and he moved back zipping his mouth, "Well, where is your car by the way After a moment he inquired sitting on the bench while his gaze was hovering around...

"Cafe... Asad replied straightening himself

"What?! Shaad screamed making him winced, "So I have to walk miles for my morning coffee...not fair Asad He whined like a child

"Stop your drama... For once Asad got up, "Come on, it'll taste better after a little workout He pulled Shaad up and both walked out while Shaad kept cursing him all the way out of the park...

"So, any suitable place? Asad asked as both started walking along the pavement making Shaad silent for a moment

"Umm...see Asad... Shaad stuttered

Asad stopped in his track, "Now after an hour drive and one more hour of wait for you to show up I am not in for your lectures Shaad... He warned and pushing hands in pockets resumed his walk while Shaad followed him...

"But Asad is it right? "You are taking decision in haste...don't you think for once you should talk with calm mind and... Asad's sharp gaze interrupted him and he sighed

"After what happened yesterday you are asking me to talk? Seriously? Asad cringed at his suggestion, "Enough now, I need peace and for the next six month my focus is that internship package only His gaze was focused ahead, shone with determination, "And moreover it's my passion...I am not going to give up just for... Shaad's phone beeped interrupting his talk

Shaad's eyes twinkled looking at the caller's name flashed on the screen of his mobile, "Sara...

Asad's brows arched questioningly as Shaad grinned "For god's sake will you please focus on the issue and not on your girlfriends... before he could say more Shaad cut his words

"Ahh! Sara can be a great help... He announced before receiving a call, "Sara whatever you want to discuss can wait, see I need your help and I'll meet you in...umm...half an hour...

Asad crossed his arms as Shaad kept talking without giving a chance to whoever that Sara was and waited for him to done with the call, "Who is this Sara now He demanded as soon as Shaad disconnected the call

"Sara...umm...she is a neighbour, I mean friend... Shaad scratched the back of his head smiling sheepishly as Asad raised his brows not convinced with his explanation, "Okay...After shifting here in our new home Mom introduced me to her as Mom is really impressed with our neighbour family He made a face, "I was reluctant but you know she is the first girl I find complicated He laughed shaking his head, "Long story short, she is cool as a friend but I don't know why I find it hard to approach her...umm...you know...like... He trailed off and Asad shook his head giving him I-knew-it look... "Don't look at me like that, it's different this time and I guess I am serious... He defended himself while Asad ignored him and started walking

"You and your girlfriends... Never-ending drama! Asad shook his head while Shaad followed him, "Whatever! But let me remind, you are here to solve my problem and I won't let you go... He warned him but Shaad interrupted

"Didn't you hear me, she can help us... He emphasized on us

"What help?

"Asaaddd!!!' He whined at stupid question, "Right now we have just one problem that is finding an affordable place for you and I am sure she can help us to find one... And moreover you don't have to travel long everyday if you get the place in this surrounding area, right...?

"Ohh... Asad gave him a sheepish look and pressed his lips as Shaad shot him a glare and walked ahead

"And before that I am asking you again... Turning back he stopped crossing his arms, "Consider shifting to my home

Asad sighed as he threw away a stone with his leg before looking up to Shaad, "Let me prove myself Shaad, which will be right... "Aur waise bhi you are helping me a lot, huh?

Shaad shook his head and continued walking, "Haan, I am helping you and what I get in return, just a coffee and for that also I am walking miles... He mumbled and Asad laughed listening to his rant

"Don't worry man, I'll give you a best treat ever on New Year He assured patting on Shaad's shoulder

"I know, when I have an excellent chef at my service, I don't have to worry about the treat Shaad said proudly as both crossed the road and walked towards the caf...

Winter is my most favorite time of the year... Not only mornings but evenings are indeed beautiful in winter! Watching those most spectacular hues in the winter sky are such a pleasure, and how people loved walking in winter evening wrapped in colorful scarf...' Zoya thought looking around; enjoying the walk on the same route she had taken in the morning... Her day had gone boring, half dealing with annoying calculations at work and half in library preparing notes... Then the recent problem was still unsolved bugging in her mind and as much as she wanted to reach home and stayed in the cocoon of her own world she decided to walk little more and feel the joy of winter evening...

Cool evening breeze danced around and she breathed clutching on her shoulder bag... her shoulders squeezed trying to get some warmth and she inhaled against her palm that reached to cover her nose feeling the tip of her nose and ears cold... "Umm...how I would love to be there in the warmness of my bed reading my favorite book or watching K-drama... "Ohh...I am going to watch BOF again... With that thought a dreamy sigh let out of her mouth, "There is something about F4 I can't decipher...and Ji Hoo! He is the one that anybody would fall for him in an instant! She was all lost in her crazy fan-girling over K-dramas when the beep of her mobile brought her back from her dream world... "Oops! I forgot to call back She halted noticing the name flashed on the screen and hurriedly received the call

"Zoya...Why didn't you receive my call earlier, where are you? Sara's worried voice came from the other side

"Sara...I was in library, sorry I forgot to call back and please don't worry I am fine She talked while looking around and then walked towards the bench, "Sara, I know however I like it or not I have only one option and that is PG accommodation, you don't force Maria Aunty, already for more than six months she had rented out the place at below market rate now it won't be nice to ask her for some more time...

"I...I guess I can manage... She let out a breath, her voice vibrated with uncertainty...

"Zoya...will you please stop talking and listen to me? A yelling from other side and she pulled the device away from her ear

"Umm...yes...sorry

"See I have got a solution for this problem

"What solution? "I already told you don't trouble yourself and... Before she could complete her sentence Sara cut her words

"You stop for once and listen to me, will you please? She hummed and waited for Sara to continue, "See, the apartment is spacious enough and Maria Aunty won't mind if we look for one more occupant to share the apartment, that way she will also get the full rent and you don't have to go anywhere right?

She sighed listening to Sara's explanation, "But we don't have much time, it's not easy to find new tenant...

"That is the good news my dear friend Sara shouted excitedly and Zoya winced, "No worries, we may get the tenant... "Okay, I'll explain everything later...for now you stop worrying, I'll meet you on Thursday... now I have to run or else I'll miss my train...

"Hmm...okay...take care and please forget this issue and enjoy your trip... She hung up wishing Sara as she was going for a camping with her friends... It was her last year of MBA and Zoya really doesn't wish to bother Sara much with her own problems...

"What I would have done if you weren't there... From the day I left Bhopal you are always there for me...I am so lucky to have a friend like you Sara... She sighed staring at her mobile till its screen turned black... Shoving the phone in her handbag she looked ahead, those flowers she had seen in the morning held her attention again and her heart wished to go and touch them, feel their delicate texture... But the chaos around held her back and getting up she resumed her walk... "Someone to share the apartment...is it a good idea? She pondered over the Sara's suggestion, "Sara sounded so sure that means she must know the person well, may be uski koi friend hogi... She concluded, "Let's see, have to wait till Sara is back... She sighed fetching the mobile out from her bag and a smile crept up on her lips as she read the notification, "New update of The Brewers Girl! Ohh!!! I can't wait to read... She felt a new liveliness and she let her legs to carry her at best speed, "Kabir Malhotra! She breathed forgetting all her worries, "Whatever the feeling of Love is, it can't be more beautiful than him! Silly grin on her face wasn't ready to fade as she mounted the stairs, two at a time...

So here is the first chapter... I hope it's okay and worth reading

The story is inspired by one of the drama I watched but I have twisted the concept for AsYa... I'll try my best to update every week and will not make you wait long...hopefully...
