Obsession
Chapter 3
The rest of the night had gone well. The nervousness that Zoya had floating around her mind was now gone. Everything felt okay again.
Asad left to his study to hand Saif a few files before he left, and as he did, Zoya and Saif became lost in talking to each other. The talkative Zoya had come out, and Saif could not be happier.
As Saif and Zoya talked, Zoya couldnt help but rethink all their memories.
She really had missed all of this. She missed their conversations, and how he always knew just how to make her laugh. And at the end of the night, she couldn't help but feel sad.
As Zoya and Asad started to get ready for bed, Zoya screamed.
"NOO".
"What, what happened?", an anxious Asad came running.
"My..my earring's gone".
"What?", a confused Asad asked.
Zoya's hair was placed behind her ear, and she stood in the mirror staring at her empty left ear. The beautiful, priceless earring had disappeared.
"Look", she spoke motioning to her ear. "One of my earrings is gone. It must've fell during dinner. Oh no, I need to go find it". She was about to scurry off when Asad held her from the elbow.
"Zoya, all the lights are turned off. You can't go downstairs. We'll look for it tomorrow morning", he assured her.
"No Asad, Ammi gave me those earrings for our wedding. I can't loose them".
"Okay. You stay here and get ready for bed. I'll go look for them".
Asad left the room and traveled down the halls. He turned on the light switch and left down the stairs. He searched the floors for anything small or sparkly. He walked through the kitchen and into the dining room. Nothing seemed to catch his eye, yet he decided to look again. As he circled the main halls with nothing in his hands, he turned to the stairs and retreated to the bedroom.
He found Zoya sitting on the bed, waiting for his arrival.
"Did you find it?", she quickly asked.
"No. I searched everywhere. But don't worry, it's obviously somewhere in the house".
"Maybe I should go look. It could've fell somewhere I had walked through", she said thinking about those back hallways she had took earlier tonight.
"No. We'll look tomorrow morning. It will be easier to look then, since there will be more light".
"Alright. I hope we find it. Those earrings mean a lot to me".
That night as they laid in bed, Asad couldn't help but look at his beautiful Sleeping Beauty. She was cuddled against his chest, adorably sleeping.
Asad couldn't help but move his head down and place a kiss on her forehead.
Zoya was his whole life. He would forever love her, and he would absolutely go crazy if anything happened to her. He was now living his greatest fantasy. Everything he's ever wanted was now his reality.
Getting the opportunity to wake up next to her. Getting into arguments with her over him being to neat.
Caving into her childish ways.
These were all things he wished for in the past, and now he had them. He even cherished the small things, like helping her find her earring.
He would forever be grateful to have her in his life
Zoya walked through the stores the next day. She past a few stores, admiring the beautiful clothes that caught her eye.
She always had a thing for fashion.
Her stomach growled a bit, as she realized just how late it was getting.
It's already past 12. I should get home for lunch.
She started to walk towards the exit of the mall, when she bumped into a chest.
"I'm so sorr-", she stopped as she looked up and found Saif and not a random stranger.
"Saif, what are you doing here?", she asked with a smile.
"I've come to spy on you", he joked.
Zoya laughed as Saif continued.
"Actually, I haven't been to India in a long time, so I just came to look around".
"Oh yeah, I forgot that you came here from New York. How is everything over there? How's your uncle?", she asked. Saif's situation was almost like hers. He didn't have parents, but was raised by his uncle. He was a nice person, and Zoya wished to see him once again.
"He's good. He sent me here to finish his project with Asad".
Saif turned around and noticed that they were standing in front of the exit.
"Were you leaving?", he asked.
"Yes, I need to get home for lunch".
"Let me take you to lunch".
"Oh, no it's fine. I should be getting home".
"C'mon Zoya. We haven't seen each other years. Let us catch up on a things".
Zoya did feel the urge to have another conversation with him like they used to in University, but she just didn't think it was appropriate to go out to lunch with him. It felt...wrong.
"No. I should get home. We can catch up another time".
"Please Zoya, it will be quick. Just one lunch", he said pleading.
"Okay. Let's go".
The outdoor restaurant atmosphere was nice for Zoya. She wasn't expecting anything this fancy, but she liked the openess and airy environment.
She and Saif had finished a lunch full of conversation, and they now sat sipping their coffee before they would leave.
Zoya dropped her phone, and she got off the chair to pick it up. As her eyes were away, Saif quickly dropped a white pill in her coffee before she could notice.
Zoya picked up her phone and sat back on her chair. She took a sip of her coffee as her and Saif continued their talking.
When they were both finished, Saif paid the check and both began walking through the streets.
As they walked, Zoya began to feel dizzy.
Everything started to spin, and her vision blurred.
"Zoya, what's wrong?", Saif asked anxiously.
But before she could reply, everything had gone dark.
Okay, I know that was cliffhanger, but don't worry. Chapter 4 will be up very soon. Anyways, thanks for reading- Ria 😊
